We stopped by today and ordered takeout for lunch, specifically the salmon with sashimi and teriyaki chicken with sashimi lunch boxes. This was my first time there and I was immediately turned off by the poor customer service. Shortly after walking in, we were met by two employees, none of which said a word to us and went on their way. Several minutes later, we had to flag down an employee to let them know we'd like to order for takeout.
After picking up our food and getting back home, I noticed that the sashimi was missing from both orders! What the heck! That's the best part of the lunch box. The person that I was with called back to complain. Little did I know, this is not the first time an item was missing from a takeout order. The previous time, the rice wasn't included...now the sashimi?! To make matters worse, when we called back, the employee that we spoke to not only was not accommodating but raised their voice at us. Their solution? To give us bigger sashimi pieces the next time we come in. I want my sashimi now, idiot!
Anyway, they really messed with the wrong person today. Little do they know I am a Yelper, and only Yelp "when things go wrong." Japanese people are usually very nice and courteous...not the case at Akasaka. Probably because they're a rip-off from the Hacienda Heights Akasaka. This explains the poor quality food and customer service. I've had way better teriyaki chicken, potato salad, and miso soup.
This place is one and done. I highly recommend that you DO NOT try this place if you're in the mood for Japanese food. Instead, venture a town over to Rowland Heights for a better selection.
