We have celebrated special occasions at the Black Swan for the last 18 years and have always been happy with our meals and dining experience - until our visit there last night, December 19th, 2007. I don't know if the chef has changed but our usual favorites like the lobster bisque were barely edible. The bisque was very fishy and luke warm. My husband's pecan crusted walleye was bland and he left half of it. I had a bite of our daughter's beef wellington and it had a very strong bacon flavor. She left half of hers as well. My prime rib was good, but my mashed potatoes were dry and hard. None of us ate our potatoes. Considering that this was a $220 with cocktails and wine, it was very disappointing. Where we used to recommend this restaurant to our friends as excellent we can't anymore nor will we return ourselves. I am sad as this was once a favorite of ours!

We dined here to celebrate our son's graduation from college. We were seated at an inside booth so we looked at a blank wall the entire time. Three in our party of five ordered soup and sent it back because it was inedible. (The soup contained pasta that was so overcooked it was completely devoid of flavor or texture and the server agreed) The final insult was being over charged for our wine which we noticed once we were in our car. We let that go and chalked it up to a bad dining experience that we won't repeat. There are much better places to eat in Kalamazoo!
This is the only Chinese restaurant I care to patronize, different from all the others. Great food, great price. Since moving to Plainwell this summer, it's not as convenient; but I'm making a special trip tonight for sure.
Worst sandwich (wrap) ever! Ordered the pesto wrap. Tasteless. A tiny amount of ranch dressing and no pesto that I could discern. Utterly flavorless with plain chicken, plain lettuce and a minimum of other vegetables wrapped in a pain tortilla wr
