I am new to the Buffalo area. I am from California serving in the US Navy here in Buffalo and felt compelled to write about a little sandwich place I just love! My co-workers always tell me to "support local business", so instead of going to McDonald's or Burger King (which so many non-local sailors and marines do), I let them take me around. Having voiced my pleasure for deli sandwiches, one of my co-workers took me to Bova's Deli.
Bova's Deli (716-884-1506) is located on the corner of Pennsylvania and 7th, just off of Niagara. Mark, the owner, makes HUGE sandwiches. My buddy ordered a cappocola sandwich with extra onions, some dressing and extra "seasoning" that Mark puts on it. It was so good that I have not even tried any of the other sandwiches he makes. His turkey sandwich is the most popular here at the reserve center, though our commanding officer loves the roast beef. What makes the sandwiches so good is how he uses Vienna loaves and cuts them so there are thick slices of bread without too much crust. Combined with the seasoning and thin sliced onions (and a LOT of them!), the flavor is terrific.
The most surprising is that the sandwich comes with a bag of chips and is only $5. An absolute STEAL for lunch. We have Bova's twice a week here at the reserve center and recommend Mark at Bova's Deli for your lunch.

Hello,
My shipmate does not lie, Bova's is without question the best sandwich in Buffalo. With bread so fresh it makes Wonderbread seem stale, and the highest quality meats, Mark, the owner, constructs an absolute behemoth deli delight. This epicurian skyscraper is even tastier knowing that you're only going to shell a fin for your lunch. Good luck finishing the half pound sandwich, I think Mark's scale is broken, but if you really want to address your glutiny issues, try the pounder...then call Jenny Craig.

As an ex-employee it was a good and bad experience, tony treats his old employees badly while he treats his new employees with knit gloves.
If you like Italian, you will love this place! I've been to many Italian places in the Buffalo area, and no place comes close to Fontana's. This place has become a favorite with my family and friends! On top of having a great everyday menu, they have
