The Geranium Cottage (where Burgundy lives) is a one and one-half story structure originally constructed in 1904 on Prospect Street and moved in 1914 to its current location.
The Cottage is architecturally significant as a rare variant of a regional American housing type. It is only one of two side-gable bungalow cottages built in La Jolla. It is one of a rapidly diminishing number of cottages that once identified La Jolla nationwide as a beachfront "cottage community."
The house was originally owned by Dr Edward and his wife Eliza Howard. Dr. Howard was La Jolla's second physician, a surgeon and deputy health officer.
The building has been beautifully restored and remodeled with care, as Burgundy Grill & Wine Bar continue caring for this great cottage- this significant part of La Jolla Village.
