Great menu and not too expensive. Buz's is a regular place for us and we have never been disappointed. Restaurant is well kept and very popular amongst locals. They also sell crab outside when in season.

I purchased supposedly fresh petrale sole from their market. The petrale sole was 'in season' at the time. When I rushed home to prepare it, i opened up the plastic wrap and it had a strong fishy odor, the sign of OLD fish. How horrible. I live about 25 minutes away from Redding so the next business day I brought it back to get a refund. FRESH FISH of anyking should not stink. It should have a clean smell like from the ocean.. NEVER AGAIN.

The grilled fish is very good and the fish is always fresh. I eat there often and enjoy the food, staff and the price. You can also eat healthy from the menu or completely go wild with fish and chips.

the food was disgusting. it had too much garlic salt, and dripping with oil. i looked over in the market when i was done with dinner and saw a big hunk of dark BROWN ahi (fresh ahi is bright red). our waitress was sweet, but i dont think i will be going back.

Largest variety I've ever seen anywhere everything we ate was great, crab was the best ever, staff very friendly and helpful and whole restaurant was very clean and neat great wharf atmosphere. If you like seafood thats the only place to go, prices are great even better than the coast and you can't find a place on the coast like this

While on vacation at Lakehead, we saw an ad in the local newspaper with a menu from Buz's which peaked our interest. My husband and I agreed that the prawns and oyster lunch/dinner (separate days)were the best we've eaten any where, including SF's Fisherman's Wharf.

I used to live in Redding in the 80's and frequented Buz's quite often. I now live in Sacramento and make Buz's a "must" everytime I visit the north state. I've always had a satisfying meal at Buz's. The fish and chips is always fresh and well cooked and the charbroiled fish plentiful and tasty. Maybe Buz's isn't Scoma's of San Francisco, but it's a Redding instituion that never disappoints.

The sourdough recipe is in fact their own - Redding French Bakery just makes the dough blanks for them. The fish is delivered regularly by climate controlled trucks from Eureka, CA and is fresh. It’s a great restaurant that doesn't make any claims that are untrue. And yes I also used to work there - I also still eat there regularly as its one of the best seafood restaurants around.

They don't have there own recipe for sourdough bread they buy dough blanks from Redding French Bakery, and there"made fresh everyday" Clam Chowder comes from a can Legout is the brand if I recall. The Fish and Chips are reasonably safe because they sell enough of them to keep fresh fish going through same with the crab most of the time. I'd stay away from the grilled stuff in the resteraunt though they freeze what's about to go bad in the market and then sell it in the restaurant. Oh and the "fresh fish" in the market may or may not have been frozen...... oh and the fresh crab on the crab louie salad well they get that right about half the time other times its canned and bland. I do like there tartar sauce however. ...and yes i did work there.

THE BEST fresh crab we have ever had and they cook it right at the location. The atmosphere of the resteraunt is very nice and clean. The service was excellent. We enjoyed the food very much and will definitly be back.

The food at Buz's Crab is absolutely the best seafood myself and my family have ever eaten. I had to try them out based on recommendation of my friends who eat there regularly when passing through the area. The sea food market is equally good offering fresh fish from Eureka, CA that they bring in on their own truck. They have fresh crab that they cook on site and their own recipe for sourdough bread that is also excellent. I would recommend this resteraunt to anyone and will definetaly eat there again.

One dine in experience resulted in a very oily squid stake that kept reminding me of my experience for two days.

The seafood market resulted in 4 decomposing crabs. Unfortunately, this was not known until all had been partially eaten by us. I caught a strange smell and brought the crab body to my nose. This resulted in a significant ammonia smell. Only after asking the health board did we realize it was the primary sign of decomposing seafood.

Good luck!
