Restaurant Description

Owner operated by Toni Leech and husband-chef Michael, have built this funky quasi-polynesian cafe into a casual and hip spot, without being trendy. The Zagat Guide calls Cafe Zoolu's swordfish "The Best on the Planet," but they also serve fine wines and Hinano, the traditional lager from Tahiti. Of course, it goes without saying, that Cafe Zoolu has one of the most superb selections of fine wines available.

The food is described as 'Eclectic California Cuisine' with an emphasis on fresh seafood… Hawaiian, Asian, Mexican & Cajun are some of the influences that make up the menu. Most of the fish is char-broiled to perfection over the mesquite. Chef Michael buys only the very best from all over the world, cuts it himself every day, and then cooks it himself every night.

Only fresh, wild caught seafood is prepared. Seasonal items include local Laguna Spiney Lobster (October thru March), fresh Maryland Soft Shell Blue Crab (summer months), and Alaskan Copper River Salmon (May thru June).

Cafe Zoolu's menu also features beef, pork, lamb, chicken, pastas, vegetarian dishes and their most popular appetizer, Calamari Asian style.
