Char 88 Historic Buford Steak House & Piano Bar is a warm and inviting atmosphere with live entertainment (piano bar) and was officially opened on July 16, 2009. The name Char was derived from two specific reasons. First the building where the restaurant is located caught on fire and the structural beams are still charred to this day from this fire in 1938. Secondly Char is the method of cooking the legendary steaks used by the restaurant. The 88 comes from 88 keys on the piano and there you have the name "Char 88?
