I found that the food was terrible for the price, poorly cooked, and served nothing that I have not seen a million other times (and done much better by most). Also, I found that the few times that I have been there I have found that the servers were not knowledgeable about anything. From what could be made vegan for a friend who dined with us, to when they would shift from the lunch to dinner menu. I had three different people answer me three different times of when I was able to order off the dinner menu!
I expected much better. I honestly have no idea how the place has been open so long.

Perhaps the service is poor due to management enforced mandatory tip-pooling. This system invites the better server to not perform as well, because they have to carry the bad servers monitarily. The servers that work in a mandatory tip pooling environment are generally over-all apathetic workers. Anyone remember communist Russia? Same theory...no matter what the work input, same pay scale.

Since we moved to Tallahassee in 2004, we have been big fans and frequent visitors of Chez Pierre. Yet in the past few months we have noticed that the food quality has dramatically decreased while the ambience has changed (beautiful terrace and bar under the yellow awning) and the prices are still the same. We had lunch at Chez Pierre yesterday and were extremely disappointed. We ordered the goose liver pate as appetizer, which they tried to serve us without bread. When we were just starting our hors d'oeuvre, they served us our main dishes, both of which came with fries--already cold upon arrival. The food quality was definitely not appropriate for its price and the service was very bad, even shameful, for a such an establishment. It seems that Chez Pierre has invested a lot of money in its appearance and in doing so has dramatically lowered the quality of its food and service as well as the creativity of its menu. In the future, we will have more tasteful meals at Kool Beanz Cafe or at Cypress, which may now be the best restaurants in town.

We have been long time fans of Chez Pierre's but will not be returning. Living 1 1/2 hours away from Tallahassee we go there often to see friends and shop. Chez Pierre was always a treat until last week. Everything seemed the same until we were presented the menu for lunch. The creative, cutting edge food was gone. There were no luxurious ingredients to choose from, just cliche standard fare.

We ordered the Mussles appetizer and were not disappointed, very nice, very good, well done. We began to relax thinking that maybe the standared fare would be beautifully produced and tasty, we were wrong. I ordered dinner crepes and was disappointed with the dry chicken, cracked and granular bechemel and leftover, warmed over quality of the dish, awfull. Sharon ordred the prosciutto and brie sandwich. She got just that, about 1 1/2 oz. of prosciutto and two slices of brie on bread. The cheese wasn't even melted, a minor ham and cheese improvement, really sorry.

This was an excellent restaurant at one time, you got more than you paid for in ingredients and creativity, no longer. I considered the food expensive for what it was, poor in quality and devoid of creativity. From sublime to rediculous we'll be going to Cool Beans in the future.

I've been told that Chez Pierre will be 30 years old this fall. Most restaurants (and businesses for that matter) tend to get stale when they get this old. This is definitely NOT the case at Chez Pierre. These folks continue to re-invent their restaurant and their offerings. Service, ambiance and cuisine continue to get better. What a pleasure it is to have a place like this in a town where I so often travel for busines. ... Keep up the great work and Happy Birthday!

I had a stunning meal at Chez Pierre last night. I frequent this restaurant and have always enjoyed my experiences, but last night was over the top! The sea bass was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the creme brulee was the best I've ever had and the service was sublime. Far and away, the best dining experience in Northwest Florida!

The restaurant itself was rather nice, and the server tried her best to provide all the information we asked for. The wines were good and resonably priced, but the whole dining experience was marred by the excessive saltiness of the boeuf bourguignon. The swordfish was adequate, but the "almond" (couldn't see or taste any) and brie "croƻte" was not a good complement to the fish. If this was an attempt at nouvelle cuisine, it was more "nouvelle" than "cuisine."
