Locals in Midway and for miles around know: This place has amazingly great food. Nothing fancy, mind you - no "Southern Fusion" or raspberry/goat cheese/cactus spine/endive encrusted anything - just great, basic stick-to-your-ribs type food cooked just like your grandmother claimed she did but in real life couldn't make THIS delicious. After eating there for years I haven't sampled anything that doesn't taste at least "good" with most "excellent." Breakfast, lunch or dinner, from eggs to burgers to steaks to seafood is all uniformly great.
As one example, a friend from Salisbury regularly drives 20 miles each way just to eat CK's pork roast, a dish served with a rich, dark sauce smothering the meat that he says beats the authentic sauerbraten he learned to love while stationed in Germany. And another: when I realized how tasty their popcorn shrimp are, I stopped visiting seafood restaurants.
