a diner from Sun City Center, FL
Danny Boy's is a family-owned restaurant in a strip-mall near I-75 and College Avenue in Sun City Center. While the strip mall ambiance is less than stellar, the food is tasty and reasonably priced.
Sun City Center is one of Florida's most famous retirement communities and Danny Boy's caters to a more elderly clientele. Subsequently, the portions are generous, reasonably priced, hit the table quickly and represent all American tastes.
The menu is diverse, with many entree selections for dinner, sandwiches, pastas, pizza and breakfast all day. You can get a beer or glass of wine with your meal.
The place is very busy during lunch and between 4 pm and 6 pm daily. Seniors like to eat and eat early, so plan accordingly.
The front of the house staff are all young women -- friendly and helpful -- and moving at a pretty fast tempo. Ask them about daily specials.
Sundays at noon the place is wall to wall with people coming in after church services. They close earlier in the afternoon, so be aware that Sunday's are challenging.
Danny Boy's is a fixture in Sun City Center and competes with Bob Evans, Dennys and Beef O'Brady's -- and most prefer Danny Boy's. This is a recommendation and you should try it if you are in town. (I think the Cuban sandwich is great!)
