Like most restaurants in Port Orchard this restaurant at its best is non offensive. In a town that is dominated by teriyaki joints and fast food joints El Sombrero belongs in the same category.
Clearly the bench mark for Port Orchard is quantity not quality. The food is bland, no need to worry about spices here. Twinkies and mayonnaise belong on their menu.
If you’re looking for large portions of bland food with a Mexican motif this is the place. If you’re looking for real Mexican cooking Taco Time would be a better choice, and that doesn’t say much.

This restaurant serves the best Mexican fare in the area in my opinion. Their take out service is speedy if you don't have time for a full sit down meal, but when you do, the staff is helpful, and the owner enjoys keeping his guests happy.

Clearly this is one of my favorites. El Sombrero is staffed by a large, friendly south-of-the-border staff. The food is very good; the prices are very reasonable; the portions are very large. The food is close to authentic Mexican food, but with an American influence. Bring your appetite and a desire to relax.
