Gasber's Fine Day originated when Clyde and Naomi Gasber purchased Palmers, a combinaton gas station and roadhouse at this location in April 1946. Clyde gained his restaurant experience by working with his father and mother, Fred and Anna, at Gasber's On the Island in Wheeling, WV. Gasber's on the Island, an instituition in the Wheeling area even prior to the Great Depression of the twenties, was later operated by Clyde's brother, Alber and his Velma. It closed its doors in mid-seventies after Albert and Velma retired.

Clyde originated the Fine Day shortly after opening in 1946. Feeling somewhat sorry for himself and feeling the impact of the post-war economy, he was greeted by an old man that had to be good health, no matter what the weather, it was Fine Day.

Gasber's Fine day has changed in many ways over the years, but the good food, good cheer, and hospitality remains. Jerry and Nancy Gasber, representing the third generation of restaurant operators, repeat the friendly saying of those before them, Fine Day and Enjoy Yourself.
