Guedo's consistently wins the "best taco" award in all the local papers for a reason. He simply knows authentic mexican tacos. I have been dining at Guedo's with my family for 12 years. On my first visits, I liked the steak tacos. Authentically served in two soft flour tortillas with soft Mexican cheese, not IN the taco like Taco Bell, but BETWEEN the tortillas, the way its done in baja. Then, I tried the pork tacos, and they were my favorites. Like the steak, but cooked with a hint of cinnamon sugar? Awesome. Then Guedo introduced the Pescados (fish tacos). He once told me that he wouldn't do fish tacos unless he could do them "right." He has. They are now my absolute favorites and have ruined me for any other fish taco. Absolutely superb. Worth the price, which is a bit high for an ordinary taco shop, but this isn't an ordinary taco shop. Guedo added a beach cantina last year and has added live music on Saturday nights. This gives the cantina a truly beach feel. Close your eyes and imagine that you aren't looking out at Chandler Blvd. and imagine that you are in Rocky Point or Cabo. It can be done! Guedo's Tacos is the first stop any of my family makes when they land in Phoenix--sometimes getting tacos BEFORE they have seen the grandkids! These are just that good. Tell only your best friends...
