Other then portion size I was not impressed. My omlette and grits where tasteless to say the least. Just a big pile of mush. The oj tasted weird as well. I was really let down overall. The hostess was really nice thou! Too bad had heard good things about this place. Wasn't crowded when I went in at all, and seemed no excuse for poor quality of food. And dirty eating utensils!

Gwennie's is a great memorobilia stop when touring Anchorage. The breakfasts are hearty and they gladly accomodated my requests, since I have a restricted diet. It holds many memories for people in their 50's and 60's who remember dining there when they were young.
Horrible!!! There service and food was horrible. They delivered the wrong order and make us pay a tip and when I called they told us that we need to pay them to send the correct order. I was in shock They would even say that. I decided to eat what t

I have enjoyed this establishment every time I have visited (which is SEVERAL). Unfortunately the owner of the restaurant has been Bartending the past couple times we have gone in and she is very unpleasant. Our drinks were empty for over fifteen min

This place is unbelievably GREAT! True European food..the food is flavorful and spiced perfectly....no processed desserts!...desserts are freshly made by hand...what a super experience. Hard to believe this place is in a strip mall!
Manager (k) really rude always yelling at other workers will not return and will contact BBB about how rude she is very disappointed with her . Will not return and will tell everybody about this experience.
We love this restaurant! Been going there with the kids since they opened and take the grandparents when they visit. Hostess is friendly and understands wheat allergies. We've tried everything on the menu and love it all!

We'd been to Gwennies before and had a decent breakfast, so we decided to try their dinner menu on August 16, 2007. Big mistake. We'll never go back to Gwennies again, and we don't recommend that anyone eat there.
My husband and I both ordered the baked halibut dinner special. Before eating at Gwennies, I had no idea that an Alaskan restaurant wouldn't know how to cook halibut, but the cook at Gwennies that night didn't have a clue. We both were served a huge slab of halibut, but the fish was cold and mushy. It looked and tasted as if it had been reheated after being frozen, and it hadn't been completely reheated. How can an Alaskan restaurant serve cold, mushy halibut as a dinner special?
We've had perfectly cooked, light and flaky halibut at numerous restaurants all over Alaska, so it was quite a shock that Gwennies was so bad. We spent $50 on that dinner. What a ripoff.
I have, sadly, not been back to Gwennies in many years, but the pictures bring back great memories of reindeer sausage and a mountain of pancakes. One of my favorite all time restaurants.

Visited Alaska to see our son last August. The first place he said we had to go was Gwennie's. What a restaurant! If I could give a 10 I would. The meals were more like a feast. I'm ready for a return trip.

Great food, great place to stop and relax, eat, enjoy the area. Having just spent the morning out and about......downtown, checked out the Harley dealer across the street... and just had to stop at Gwennies for lunch. Delicious hamburgers and onion rings.... attentive service, clean place.
Stopped by Gwennies for breakfast, and it now is on our"Things to do" list every time we hit Anchorage.George And Carol, Leavenworth Wa.98826

Gwennies is a must stop for breakfast on any trip to Anchorage. The food is great, and the portions are huge. The reindeer sausage is a real treat. One of the best values you will find for breakfast. I have recommended this restaurant to many travelers. All have thanked me for telling them about this special spot that is within easy walking distance of many of the motels/hotels near the international airport. Another plus is the fast, friendly service.

Gwennies is a local favorite as well as a gathering of "walking tourists" from the finest hotels nearby. They come to feast on hearty, family-style meals: They come to view the '64 earthquake memorabilia hung throughout. Last year the public voted Gwennies the #1 place to go for a Bloody Mary. The restaurant has a lot of "character".
