Throughout her nursing career, Marie never let go of her passion for cooking. Every family event (and there were many!) was either fully catered by her, or she'd bring her special macaroni au gratin and upside-down pineapple cake. After years of cooking for her family, it was finally decided that the culinary arts were indeed her calling.
In 1995 Imperial Caribbean Restaurant was born on Main St. Middletown with the help of Marie's husband, Dr. J Carl Jarda. All of Middlesex County was able to get a real taste of the islands. The sweet smell of chicken creole crept down Main Street bringing people from as far as Massachusetts and Maryland! Sadly in 2000, Imperial closed it's doors for business, some would say without a trace.
Eight years later Imperial is doing it again (many thanks to Carl again! Without you the new improved Imperial wouldn't be here today).
This time Marie and her oldest daughter, Tamya, commonly known as Mimie, are ready and willing to serve you the best taste of the islands possible. We look forward to stimulating all of yoru senses whenever you come to see us. With our food your taste buds will dance to the rhythm of flavors in your mouth, the art on our walls will shock your sense of beauty, your soul will be full with the love and care taken to prepare your every meal, and your foot will not be able to be still with our array of Caribbean riddims.
