We ate at Joe Root's Grill during our recent weekend stay in Erie, and were very impressed. I am perplexed as to some of the horrible reviews this place is getting. It almost as if they ate at a different place. Prices are similar to Outback. I really enjoyed the different things they had to eat. We were very impressed with our crab stuffed portabella appetizer. It was a large portabella mushroom stufefd with crab, and topped with mozzarella cheese that was sprinkled with what tasted like Old Bay seasoning. My husband ate the 16 oz Prime Rib, which was cooked just as he ordered. He had Rice Pilaf on the side which he enjoyed. I ordered the ribs, which were cooked to fall-off-the-bone perfection, and slathered with a wonderful bar-b-q sauce. I had the baked potato on the side. The baked potato was great, and had sea salt sprinkled on the outside, which was a plus for me,a s I enjoy eating the skin as well. Even the bread served before dinner was nice with a extra special touch of garlic butter drizzled over the top of it. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was on the higher end of casual. (not as casual as a sports bar, but not fancy and upscale either). I will definitely eat here again the next time I visit Erie!

This was the worst dining experience! Food was not perpared well and the servers were rude!
The Colony has an excellent selection on its menu. There are also daily specials which offer a great value. My wife and I have eaten there numerous times and have not had a bad meal.

To whom this may concern, my night out with my family on Friday 28 2007 was the worst time at your place of business the service I could have done myself better and the way our food was served was very poor, in the best way I can say I should have went to McDonalds. We came in and spent almost $100.00 and all's I did is wast time and my money, our server acted like we were doing her a favor by being there!!! It was me and my wife And my Mother in laws anniversary and I think I made a big mistake. I am a manager for over 20 years and I really think this is poor and sad.
The restaurant does not take reservations on weekends. We had a party of 16 that met on Saturday, October 28,2006. We requested a table for 16-18 and they set a table for 14. When we asked to have an extra table added, the manager was rude and said no, stating the table was already "reserved" for another party. During the evening, no one sat at the "reserved" table and other tables around us could have been moved to adjoin ours. There was plenty of room to accommodate us. The waitress was clueless! She forgot to take orders, served the wrong dishes, brought endless bowls of soup for no apparent reason, forgot to bring salads until the entree was served, never came back to inquire if anything additional was needed nor asked if we were interested in dessert, and charged one person in our group for a larger portion than was ordered. She eventually apologized after she was shown what she had written down, while blaming the computer system for her incompetence. The food was great, but everything else tells all of us to stay away. It's not worth it. There are better restaurants that actually know what customer service is and they have great food too. The chef at Joe Roots should go somewhere else, because it's not going to last with lousy service no matter how the food tastes. Our group (who happen to be boating residents of the Presque Isle Marina) will be meeting at another local restaurant next month. Joe Roots will not see our money again.

The management will not honor their gift certificates. They had no problem taking the money from my wife for the gift certificate they gave me for my birthday. Who cares about customer service. Clip joint is right! I will never go there again!

This is a great place to eat!! The food is homemade and is nothing short of perfection. You couldn't ask for a more reasonably priced, warm, welcoming atmosphere that is accompanied by friendly service. I highley recommend trying Joe Roots.
great food, cheap prices for the size of the portions. 12.00 for a 9 oz sirloin that's cheap and it was good. who needs outback when this place is half the money. kids meals were cheaper than mcdonalds. visit this place.

This place is a clip joint. When you order a sandwich the waitress asks if you want either the onion rings, the french fries or the chips. Assuming one of these is part of your order it's a big surprise when the bill comes and you are charged an extra $2.00 for either of these. P.S. the food is bad to. Avoid this dump!
