Karla Cook of the New York Times, after "two lovely dinners", hails La Cipollina "an Italian hideaway for restorative fare", in her July 5th New York Times review. She goes on to describe the "weekend service as unfailingly and impressively professional."
Ms. Cook said of our steak ..."rivals the famed steaks of Peter Lugers of Brooklyn." In addition she gave special praise to the following items...Pork Belly, Eggplant Caponate, Penne Arriabiata, Fresh Mozzarella, Eggplant Rollatini, Escargot, Pork Special, Esarole Monachina, Asparagus Parmigiano, Pana Cotta and Chocolate Pecan Torte.
Chef Ash was given special praise for "using fresh ingredients in a well conceived combination, all included with a touch of playfulness." GOOD JOB CHEF!!!
Ms. Cook made special note as La Cipollina being "lively and studded with regulars", and although we are truly grateful for the increase in reservation requests since the article published, our commitment to our very loyal regulars will remain our main objective. This was made clear by Anthony Braica in a Staff meeting called on 7/7/09 in which he said "our main priority will remain people we know." In addition 3 hours spent discussing some of the small negatives listed in the review. Some people can never be happy - LOL, I can say this, I'm his nephew.
We would like to thank Ms. Cook for our review, as well as our loyal clientele for validating our commitment to food and service for the past 23 years.
