We've had good food here in the past, but it's gone downhill steadily. Tonight was the last straw. We ordered pickup and by the time we got home the nachos supreme was a tincan of pure mush. The enchiladas supreme were also very mushy and mostly cold. To make it better, there were finger sized bones in the chicken enchilada. Most insulting of all was our order of kids chicken tenders. They were (I do not joke here) the dinosaur shaped Tyson frozen chicken you buy at Publix. On top of that they were cold as were the fries. All in all I think we were forced to throw 90% of our meal away. We will never dine here again.

Ok let's start with the good things. My family and I went for dinner. The restaurant was clean. The decor could use some updating. The chips and salsa that they serve was tasty. The Pico de Gallo that they have for an appetizer had awesome flavor with a little bit of heat to it. The prices are very reasonable and you get large portions for the price. The waitress that we had was excellent. She was on top of things. Ok now for the bad. The food...the most important thing had a lot to be desired. I ordered the Burrito Loco and it was huge. I got the chicken and the chicken was very dry and some pieces tasted like it had some seasoning while the other pieces did not. My burrito was cold. I know it had some items that might bring down the temperature like sour cream and lettuce but it should not bring down the temperature to the point that it felt like everything just came out of the fridge. The presentation was not good. It was just a folded over tortilla not the tucked in burrito that I am used to having. There were huge chunks of lettuce which gave it a weird texture (I am used to shredded cabbage in burritos). The tortilla that it was wrapped in had a nasty pasty texture and it tasted funny. Needless to say that I only made it less than a quarter of the way thru it. My husband ordered the Three Amigos platter. The steak was seasoned well but it was like chewing leather. He said that the chicken was not seasoned at all. He liked the re-fried beans and rice. He also took the guacamole from my burrito and said that it was the best he had in a long time. My kids all had burritos too and they said they like theirs but my daughter said that her re-fried beans were thick as paste and tasted like it. I tend to agree with that. I have had much better Mexican food in Tampa. If you want some really good Mexican food I would strongly suggest the Taco Bus on E. Hillsborough. The food there is very tasty and you get large portions for reasonable prices. The Taco Bus food runs circles around this place. This was my one and only visit to the La Hacienda.

This restaurant is great. The Mexican food, in my opinion, the best in Tampa. The prices are a real value, especially if you are taking the family. Great full service bar, with great Sangria. The fajitas as well as the Enchiladas Rancheros and Shrimp Rancheros (spicey) are very good. Service very friendly and attentive. Definately worth a try!
