One of the best italian restaurant in Louisville. The scallops are wonderful! You must try! The service has always been great. It is like sitting in your mom's dining room! A really, really great place!

A wonderful dining experience! It was like being in Europe with friendly wait staff, a nice time for talking with dining guests since we never felt rushed. Time allowed for each course to be enjoyed. I had the Florentine ravioli special and my friends enjoyed the spaghetti with (huge) meatballs and lasagna. I had a glass of Chianti which was perfect with my dinner selection. Overall an excellent experience with a homestyle feeling

We have dined in many places ( here and Europe ) and this is right there at the top. Our daughter and son-in-law invited us for our 33rd anniversary. They live in the area and know the places. We had a wonderful time. Bill Brown, Minnesota

The worst Italian food I have ever eaten. The atmosphere is very charming, but don't be deceived. Open your own can of Ravioli - you will be much more satisfied. The worst meal I have ever eaten in my life.

Every item tried on their menu, after multiple visits, is outstanding. Value is superb. Betty's Lasagna can feed 3 normal appetites and leftovers are zealously guarded when they come home. For those that love desserts, the Italian Cream Cake is out of this world. We've known Chef Annette 7 years and this rendition is her best.

This restaurant has turned into one of the most disappointing places in town. While they have great food, their customer service leaves quite a bit to be desired. First, they still have such limited space that even after expanding they put customers in rooms with no air conditioning. The wait staff and kitchen staff can not handle any business whatsoever, a little busy or a lot busy. The turnover in waiters is way above average compared to other Highlands restaurants (I wonder why).

Even as a carry out customer the experience has been abysmal. Either they forget your order or take over an hour and fifteen minutes to make it (after telling you 45 minutes). To be fair the waiter comped the meal which I appreciated but this is not a lone incident.

Lastly they seem to have problems answering their phone. It has taken 3 to 4 times to get them to answer most of the time. The last straw for me is when I called recently and was told the owner was not accepting any carry outs until late because they were "too busy". At the rate they are going they won't have to worry about being busy much longer. Forget it!!!

I agree with all the reviews, on this webpage, that Le Gallo Rosso has some of the best Italian food that I've experience here in Louisville. The service was, ehh, a little desirable than expected but overall a great place for Italian food. Finally, to me, there is nothing better than a glass of red wine with Italian food. THEY DON'T SERVE WINE. 4 1/2 stars.

Been here a few times and never been disappointed! You have to walk through a shady looking alley but the restaurant is awesome! It is small and has an authentic homey feel. The food is well priced for such gigantic proportions! If you are looking for a new experience, then you should give this little restaurant a try!

I moved to Louisville two years ago from Buffalo, NY. Buffalo has some of the best Italian food in the country with its large Italian population. Since moving to Louisville, I've searched tirelessly for great Italian food worth paying for. I've been to almost every Italian place in Louisville from some expensive restaurants downtown to more quaint restaurants in the Hihglands and Crescent Hill. As of last Saturday, my search is over! Le Gallo Rosso is everything you could want in an Italian restaurant...friendly service, a quaint Italian style ambiance and more importantly the most delicious Italian food I've ever tasted. Le Gallo Rosso is the best kept secret in Louisville!

The food is some of the best italian I have had. I eat out all the time at some high end places and this is the best italian in town. Not only that...there is nothing on the menu over $15 with most items around $11. Scallop app is the bomb, Fig dressing on mixed greens is great, spag w/stuffed meatballs (the size of baseballs) is to die for, Laasagne is huge and one of the best ever, but if you like cream sauce you gotta try the pasta with exotic shrooms and homemade cream sauce (no flour in this one). If your going to judge italian, the tomato sauce has to be top notch...this one will not let you down. Very small restaurant with a quaint atmosphere. If it was in a bigger more visual location the owners would be set for life. Portions are huge as well. Easy to split meals. This is the real deal. Sometimes service is slow but I will wait as long as it takes for food this good!!! If your hungry, go now and get some!
