Louis the basset hound, patrolled the corners of Bayview and Sea Streets for years when he discovered that if he walked outside Finlay's E-Z Convenience (diagonally across the intersections where the new condos are) eventually a customer would exit the store and he could slide in while the door was open. Once inside, he'd proceed to the self where the animal crackers and chocolate chip cookies were kept. In a pinch he'd have the animal crackers, but her preferred the chocolate chip cookies. The string handle on the box made it easy for him to pick up. He's escape the store the same way and head back to the end of Sacco's bar to enjoy his golden gains
One day, the store owner called Sacco and said "Hey, this is running into some money.", so Sacco told him to keep an account for Louis and the would settle up once a week. Newspapers all over the world soon picked up the story and Sacco became something of an unofficial club president to basset hound owners from far reaches of the earth. They smothered him with letters and photographs of their dogs. A local television news even came down and filmed Louis's routine.
In his later years, when Louis was very slow crossing the street, the Mayor had a sign warning drivers: Slow, Louis Crossing - In Memory of Louis Sacco III, Basset Hound
