I thought all Japanese restaurants were fancy, expensive, and intimidating until I went to Makkara. It's affordable and simple, with great food and very kind service. My family goes there when we don't feel like cooking during the week, or when we want to go out on the weekends with friends to an affordable place with good food.

I love Makkara as a place to pick up some sushi on the way home or as a place to stop with the kids when we're out and about running errands. It's not fancy, but it's very clean and simply decorated.
I had lunch at Yotsuba recently and really enjoyed it. The service was great, the food great, but what really makes the restaurant is the decor, which is very calming and lovely. I probably wouldn't bring my kids here, but would go back with friends.
We always have a good meal here, with great service and personalized attention.
For a real treat ask for the chief to suprise you with something not on the menu. You will not regret it.
