On a rare visit to Iowa City, I decided try something different for lunch. While not fantastic, Masala Indian Vegetarian was indeed a new experience, in that it's both vegetarian and Indian, and definitely worth trying.
The buffet was, however, very limited with about 3 entrees (not including rice & tortillas), salad mix with 3 dressings, a rice pudding, and some sugary sponge-balls. Before long I was hankering some sweet & sour chicken to balance out all the potato dishes.
But it was quite reasonable at $8, and the service was great. The small variety and lack of meat might keep me from returning, but I'm glad I gave it a shot and recommend it to those wishing to try something different, especially omnivores like myself.

I have been a regular visitor to Masala when I visit the town. In younger days lol, I worked next door. I have never been disappointed in the food. In fact, I rarely eat vegetarian food but this place can draw me in simply because the food is that good, despite my normal omni-diet. The service has almost always been great, the ambiance is usually excellent, though when there is a football Saturday crowd it can lose some of it's charm. If you like Indian food, if you like veggies, this is a great place for you to try!
