Restaurant Description

Mavi is a fine dining restaurant that has recieved an overwhelming 5 star rating. Mavi features three dining areas, an outdoor patio with amazing landscape design, two bars and a lounge. The food is wonderful, as is the service. Mavi is a great asset to Hartford and to the whole state.

Mavi is my favorite place to go out for a romantic meal. We just love sitting outside on the porch and looking at the beautifully landscaped scene. There are blue glass tiles on the the porch columns and at night the candles on the tables create interesting visual effects with the tiles and the grapevines overhead. The food is always exquisitely prepared. There are so many wonderful choices on the menu that I have only tried a small fraction of the offerings. The grilled sea bass is a meal fit for a queen! Every time I go to Mavi I find more to love.

If there is a better Mediterranean restaurant in the U.S. I haven't heard of it. Mavi has all of the elements which I think would be part of a perfect Mediterranean restaurant. These include a menu that is truly diverse in its approach to the cuisines of this vast region, the kind of high quality and fresh ingredients one would encounter while travelling the region, a truly romantic environment which has the effect of transporting its patrons abroad, and lastly, true passion for food and wine of the Mediterranean. I am equally thrilled by the Duck L'Orange and the Mixed Seafood grill, of course representing vastly different cuisines. The Italian dishes are authentic and bear no traces of the boring dishes typically served in the majority of restaurants these days. Turkish flair is also served up masterfully at Mavi. I highly recommend the food there, and the wine list was obviously put together by a talented somellier. All of this is good but there is also a comfortable quality about the service that makes you feel simultaneously that you are a member of the family as well as an honored guest.

When I walked through the doors at Mavi I admit that I was already impressed. I felt just like I was in the restaurants I used to frequent on my many trips through the Mediterranean region. When I sat down and read through the menu I was excited by the variety Mavi offered but I wondered to myself "Can they really serve Turkish, French and Italian of equally high quality?" They certainly can. My friends and I ordered many dishes from the major regions of cuisine offered at Mavi. Each had flair, great flavor and truly authentic flavor! Turkish Meze shone, as did Lobster Ravioli and Duck L'Orange. Try this place!

Mavi is a really cool place that I recently discovered. Think of all of the amazing food from throughout the Mediterranean world on one menu. I am totally hooked on their wonderful meze platter appetizer. It is a wonderful way to begin a meal, especially with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. Then I would advise you not to miss the wonderful grilled Mediterranean sea bass, which just melts in your mouth.

A pleasant surprise is how I would describe Bloomfield newcomer Mavi. As a frequent traveler to Paris, Milan and Istanbul for business, I can't begin to say how excited to find a place in my zip code that serves true Mediterranean. I love the grilled whole sea bass and the Meze platter. That is my perfect idea of a meal. If you are in the Hartford area, Mavi is a can't miss!
