Restaurant Description

Miss Irene's, which recently opened in Fells Point brings a new level of "upscale casual dining" to the area. The former dive bar in the heart of Fells seemed like it took forever to renovate…about three years. It was worth the wait…the inside is amazing. The place is trimmed out in dark wood…making it a cozy place to hang out or dine. There is a large bar downstairs surrounded by tables, with a smaller more intimate bar on the 2nd floor. The dining room (also upstairs) has a cathedral ceiling with giant chandeliers. It makes you feel like you're dining in a castle. The Mediterranean influenced food complemented the ambiance well. The cocktail list is an incredibly creative collection of mostly Gin drinks. It seems most of them are unique to Miss Irene's."I had the braised lamb shank which was so tender it nearly dissolved on my tongue. If you like Beer, good food, gin, or a cozy upscale casual place to hang out, then Miss Irene's is a must see…"-Patron J.F. Nov. 2009

"This restaurant is in full swing…serving French and Italian-themed dishes (think coq au vin and moules frites; duck risotto and white truffle macaroni with cheese and greens) with a few other worldly influences thrown in for good measure, like the red curry mussels with coconut milk appetizer."-Patron M.Z. I wasn't sure about Miss Irene's. I'd heard it was a "French restaurant" and I was a worried it might be pretentious but my friends wanted to check it out. Turns out to have been a great choice. Great food (the crab cakes, which were the night's special, were some of the best I've had in Baltimore), friendly and efficient waiters, beautiful dining room! And - I WAS WRONG - not a bit pretentious.

This is my new favorite restaurant!
It comes down to just plain old-fashioned hospitality and Miss Irene's delivers it in abundance.
I have eaten there frequently since my first trip in January and can tell you that the enthusiasm of the staff is genuine; I am convinced that these nice people really do enjoy their jobs and each other.
The chef has done a great job of incorporating his own spin on dishes that are mostly pretty traditional and has found a nice balance between the two.
The servers are outstanding. Part of the whole experience is watching them do what they do. It's smooth like butter!

Had dinner at Miss Irene's the other night and I am already making plans to go back. I loved it there. My date and I were treated like royalty! I was so impressed - the guys in the dining room treated us like VIP's. The place is awesome, really impressive; you wouldn't believe how nice everything is. Delicious food, great atmosphere, waiters that I think actually care! I am a big fan!
