Mr. G's is like my neighborhood pub - and I'm so glad. There is really no better place in New London county for casual yet wonderful dining. I eat at Mr. G's probably three or four nights a week. The wait staff is friendly - they take wonderful care of you. They remember what I like to drink and how I like my prime rib cooked and how I don't want salad with my meal but will take it to go.

I have never had a bad meal or a bad snack or a bad dessert in Mr. G's. Here are my favorite things: My long-time favorite was the cheese steak and fried onions. I ate it for years. I'm from Philadelphia so I have a finely-tuned sense of good when it comes to cheese steaks. Mr. G's cheese steak is really sliced steak with great cheese - melty and gooey - served on a great crusty roll with great fries. Real fries - not processed stringy things. So after living on cheese steaks for all those years I discovered the Burgers. They are without doubt the very best I've ever had. They are fresh and 'home-made' of good beef/cooked to order with any toppings you want and on great rolls. The Pizza is also as good as it gets. White or red - they are all good. My favorites - pepperoni and white chicken and broccoli. Soups are homemade and wonderful. Drinks are generous. Desserts are great especially carrot cake from The Cake Lady. One last favorite - George's Chicken and Ziti - just too good.

I love the place - can you tell?

I have eaten at this restaurant for nearly a quarter century. It is as consistently good as you can get. It features some of the best pizza in the Southern New England area. I recommend the pepperoni pizza and suggest asking for it 'well done'. Classic 'grinders' (a 'submarine' style sandwich) are their absolute best in this part of the country and Mr. G's is at the top of the heap; toasted, with mayo or oil (or both!). Other great menu items include (but isn’t limited to) steaks, deli sandwiches and daily soups including the best Greek soup you'll ever have. For desert their baklava cannot be beat.

The atmosphere is very informal - 4 stars if you like that feel. The waitresses are most often friendly and prompt. The bar is complete with complete selections of wines, beer, etc.

If you want a great tasting meal with no hassle or fuss, Mr. G's is the place. Highly recommended.
