Our story began in the early 60's, in a small village in Northern India. Iqbal Dha first learned her craft from her mother and grandmother in her home of Rai Pur Arian. As a small child she showed a passion and excitement for experimenting with food and creating new recipes.
Iqbal immigrated to the United States with her family in 1980. She dedicated herself to raising her three children while never forgetting her true passion in life. She wanted to share her love of cooking with everyone she could. She started with small catering events. Her amazing talents and dedication to her craft opened a door of great opportunity in 2001. This was the year all her hard work and determination came full circle. In a joint effort with her brother Jasbir Rai, she opened up her first restaurant called Punjab Sweets.
Punjab Sweets quickly became the place to dine for Indian cuisine and sweets enthusiasts. Her legion of fans extended to the Eastside where there was high demand for this authentic food. In 2004, this demand was met with the creation of Preet's, which was welcomed with great enthusiasm. Preet's was aptly named - to not only mirror her own feelings of what she strove to offer, but wanted to shout it from the mountain tops: Love. Love for her family, love for her passion, and most importantly the love she wants to share with all of you.
Iqbal currently still works daily at Punjab Sweets along side her new business partners: daughter Harpreet and husband Gurmit. She handed the reigns and great duty of Preet's to me, as I delicately and respectfully carry on the legacy of my mother's passion. As I strive to carry on the torch and display to the world what real Indian food should taste like.
