I am always shocked when I read reviews written by people who want ultra cheap prices and perfect service and the complain when they get a tip added. The food is always excellent and the prices are very reasonable for good quality food. I was going to go for an early bird but changed my mind because the menu was less extensive. I am going out to dinner for quality and service and I get both here. I am delighted to tip my servers as this is there job! The servers always treat me and my wife well and we get a great meal. If you want cheap meal, service and food go somewhere else. Might I recommend mcdonalds, no tip required.
Under new ownership! Michael Hocter recently purchased this diamond in the rough. He has certainly added sparkle to the diamond. Pair the view of Venetian Bay with flavorful steak and wonderful service and you have a winner of a restaurant. Newly ren

Owners on premises so that's good. Food is consistently good. Nice drinks, nice people waiting on you.
I cannot believe some of the posts on this website concerning Pate's Steakhouse in Naples. My wife and I are regular visitors to Naples, from the home of Aberdeen Angus steaks, being Aberdeenshire, Scotland). We have eaten at Pate's on several occassions recently and have always found the special meal deal to be brilliant value, with fabulous steaks and great service from Tammy. We don't really care for the US tipping culture but this is one place where we have no such problems and 18% of $30 is not exactly high!

My wife and I have been customers of the Pate family since the days of Marker Four on Naples Bay and have always found their restaurants to be above average. Pate's Steak and Seafood continues in the fashion. The bar is a wonderful gathering place for year around residents and hotel guests. The owner, Stanley Pate, and his wife have always provided us with warm and friendly service. You receive excellent food at a reasonable price.

My sister and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Pate's Christmas week '09. The restaurant was extremely clean and very comfortable. Not only was our waiter Tim very attentive and most personable; he ensured we received our steaks cooked perfectly. The two dinners and bottle of wine for $16.99 each was a such a deal not to be missed. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and when I am back in Naples, Fla I will return.
After reading the divergent reviews on this restaurant, my wife and I were apprehensive about going, but intrigued by the possible value. We were not disappointed. The prime rib and strip steak were good, the salad was fresh, the wine, a zinfindel, was tasty, and the service was excellent. Overall, the dinner special was an excellent value.

I went here on the recommendation by some friends. I had read the reviews that were posted here which were leaning mostly toward a negative experience. I would like to say that my wife and I thorougly enjoyed our experience both with the food quality and service. You can't beat the 2 for $29.95 deal. My wife and I both had the New York Strip steak and thought it was very good. Our waitress was very nice and made our experience enjoyable. We got there 6:00pm and noticed the place really started to fill up by 7:00pm. My suggestion to anyone having doubts about eating here is give it a try and I think you will be happy you did.

I have gone to the resturant a few times and the early bird was a nice deal. I went last night and my wife had steak which was good. I had the prime rib as usual and instead of getting a fair portion I got a piece the size of bolany. I mentioned it to the staff and was told that's what you get. I approached Stanley an his attitude was that's what you get.I guess he has enough customers and dosen't need locals eating there.

Our dining experience at Pate's was terrible. We decided to the special they had advertised and we were corralled into a noisy, unattractive area of the restaurant--not the main dining area. We had the rudest waitperson we have ever encountered. The prices are "adjusted" for the specials--better deals on the regular menu. The food was so-so and service was non-existent. For a restaurant that is trying to get customers into their establishment by offering a special, they are certainly managing to chase away any potential business through their rudeness and careless attitude to new patrons. I would never go back to this place--even for a free meal!!! I expect to see them closed in the near future--you can't keep customers--let alone attract new ones--with this kind of care.

Thank-you for the opportunity to tell others to avoid Pate's at all costs. We were told that there would be a 30 minute wait but seeing numerous empty tables we asked the maitre d' several times if we could be seated. We were pleasant and happy about it. Finally after 50 minutes we told him we were hungry and tired, still in a good-natured way. He snapped at us that we had been warned of the wait, were bothering him "every five minutes" and why didn't we just leave. I wish we had. The food was kind of crappy, they mixed up three orders, and we had bad feelings about being spoken to so rudely. Turns out he is Stanley Pate, the owner. Like I said, avoid this place at all costs!

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT EAT AT PATE's!!!
The 2-for-1 deal is a scam. And here is why. They jack up the prices for the dinners - there are bigger portions for less on the main menu. Then, before they discount one of the other dinners, they automatically add a 18% gratuity fee.
Well, our server forgot to bring us dinner rolls (they were hard when he finally did) when asked, did not bring steak sauce when asked, and he could hardly speak english and I could not understand what he said.
The salad was very skimpy and the steak was fatty, grisly and not worth the $32.99 fee. The 2-for-1 deal with one beer came to $52.99 because $12 was added in the tip - which wasn't deserved.
I called the owner - one of the Pate's - after I left and he was very rude. I told him of my experience, how that it's not fair they decide how much we should tip (it does say this on the menu so that was my fault, that the gratuity would be added in)...but I told him the steak was fatty, the salad was skimpy and the service was poor and his response?
"What is the purpose of your call? I am busy, I have to go." Then he hung up the phone.
The place looks old and dreary, and it has no ambiance.
Don't let the 2-for-1 price fool you - it's no deal and a complete scam! You are better off going to Outback or some chain steakhouse, because it's cheaper and better service.
Don't ever ever eat at this restaurant unless forced. I love food and will gladly give a place a good review, but this place should not even be open because they are scammers! Stay away, far far away!

Should you be old enough to remember great steaks, salads and baked potatos (cooked in the oven with oil on the skin)... this is where you should eat. My wife and I had three top shelf cocktails and one glass of wine and two excellent steaks and dinner for a total of less than $70(before seven PM), including tip. The butter and salad dressing are served in plastic containers. I am sixty-sixty years old and have been in and out of Naples for thirty plus years and learned of Pate's from a friend. Do not take your kids (or your friends),go and enjoy what Naples was thrty years ago. Our server was Linda.

We were looking for a place to hold a family gathering in a few weeks, so we decided to test out a couple of restaurants. Pates looked like a promising place to start, so off we went for an early dinner. They advertise 2 for 1 dinners, so we proceeded to chose from the early dining menu. The first thing we noticed was that at $32.99 per plate, the prime rib was half the size of the normal dinner served at $28.95. Fine--one of us ordered the prime rib. The New York Strip that was offered at $32.99, was 12 ounces not the 16 ounces of the regular dinner serving. Then we ordered drinks that were on a happy hour price--one wine and one draft beer. We were not sure what the happy hour special was, so we just assumed that if they were two for one, the other would follow or there would be a reduced price on the bill. The salads came, and one of us had requested raspberry vinegarette dressing. It came as a bottle of oil and a bottle of raspberry vinegar--make your own thank you very much. All of this takes place without one word of advice or assistance from the server. The meals came, and they were fair--not great. Our second drink never showed up. The bill came, and there were two drinks full price, plus an 18% tip added to the bill before the second entree was deducted from it. To say the experience of dining at Pates was disappointing, is an understatement. There are plenty of really good restaurants in this city that do not resort to half-size meals in order to attract patrons. These places also give you the second drink when it is 2 for 1 during happy hour. Our business and our family's dining will go elsewhere!

I visited Pates with my family during a drive through Naples. It was a very disappoining experiance. It is a very unfriendly place for childrens. There was no kids menue and when asking them do do a small portion of pasta - they charged a full price. nobody was in the restaurant ho was impowered to make a customer friendly decission.
Don't go there - especially when traveling with childrens. I's expensive and the food is average.

We had the early bird special. First they jack up the prices chariging $30. for a meal although the regular menu has it listed as lower, Then when they tabulate the bill they charge us 18% tip for $60 even though we would have paid much less if ordering from the regular menu. We felt that we were "RIPPED OFF". Will never return and will urge all we know NEVER to try it.
