Have been here a few times. The place is a major disappointment. Menu is not creative. Many foods are microwave heated. Salad bar is terrible - boring ingredients, Lots of fried stuff - few healthy entrees. One kind of lettuce and "purchased" rolls. Reminds me of the high school cafeteria. I fail to see why it is so popular. The place could use a fresh coat of paint and new carpet. Appearance is "dated".

It is, unfortunately, a growing rarity to find a nice, friendly locally run dining establishment. Strip mall gourmands flock to the predictable chains ordering up the pre-fab cuisine they see on TV. You know the ones: lobsters cracked open in succulent slow motion and people experiencing x-rated taste sensations, leaping in the air, etc. I've noticed the slow demise of places like "Pickett's Charge" and it makes me sad. To me, these places have personality. I LIKE the idea that you pull up to these family establishments for the first time not knowing what the food will taste like until you try it. Yeah, I know, that's good and bad. But, I'd rather chance it than eat the same predictable shrimp fried in the same predictable grease in the same predictable dining room. But enough bitching. "Pickett's Charge" is consistently good. True to the name, dining areas are filled with Civil War memorabilia amidst dark wood and brick confines. The salad bar is one of the best, offering great variety, fresh veggies, and a "slice-it-yourself" bread board featuring a couple loafs of fresh, warm homemade fare. Entrees and sides are generous, delicious, and prepared to order. Service is very friendly and attentive, but sometimes sparce (apparent staff shortages). However this, I think, is a minor detail in an otherwise fine family dining experience. I would recommend "Pickett's Charge" as a great alternative to the "same old same old", and a terrific way of supporting a local business.
