We had dinner at Pietro’s 2 for the first and last time a week ago. It was the worst so-called Italian food I’ve tasted in my entire life (37 years). The standards at which I rate their food against have nothing to do with the fact I worked/lived in Italy for 4 years and know first hand what authentic Italian food should be. The standards I’m using are in line with traditional American Italian restaurants, both franchise and independently owned/operated. In fact, any frozen Italian microwaveable meal from your local grocery market tastes a million times better. For starters, the garlic bread (if you can call it that) is not prepared with any garlic-not even garlic powder. It’s lightly toasted sub rolls drizzled with red colored vegetable oil; no garlic, no salt, no pepper, no parsley, no cheese-nothing! The ravioli was freshly prepared pasta; however, it was served very undercooked and inedible-I had to spit it out! I tried the marinara sauce and meat sauce, both of which were completely watered down and without any seasoning, spices, herbs or flavor of any kind. The seafood pasta was horrible; scallop was cold, still translucent in the middle (as opposed to opaque when cooked) and tasted fishy and the shrimp was way overdone-too rubbery to chew! The sauce was an even more watered down version of their “traditional” marinara. We informed our server who promptly relayed our complaints to the kitchen staff and manager but nobody came to our table with an apology. Knowing how truly disgusting their food is, they all hid away from us in the kitchen. I have always been assertive when dealing with poor quality goods and services but in this case, we were so appalled that we couldn’t wait to leave. Our experience at Pietro’s 2 was so bad that we had to warn others and hopefully save them from the same grief. You’ve been warned.
