We received a gift certificate to The Pine Club for Christmas and unfortunately decided to use it on the biggest Date Night of the year, Valentines Day. We showed up at 5:00 sharp (5:01 to be exact) because everywhere we looked that's what time they said they open. There was already an hour and a half wait. They had opened at 4 that day. Guess only "those in the know" knew about that one. We had to be somewhere at 7 so we thought we'd go for the late dinner and showed back up at 7:30 -- now a two to two-and-a-half hour wait. But hey it was a free dinner, so we waited.

After finally getting a table after 9 we ordered right away. I can say they were quick, but with that many hungry people, it wouldn't have been wise to dawdle.

We started with the scallops. Pretty fishy, maybe my "pallette" just isn't refined. My fiancee ordered the Porterhouse and I got the extra thick Filet Mignon. While both were tender and tasted fine, they were not juicy, definitely not something I'd write home about and something I was not happy to have waited all night to try. I feel the steaks at Outback Steakhouse are miles above this place. Both of us enjoyed the onion strings about the best and we got extra because the veg O'day was lima beans. What restaurant in their right mind has lima beans as a vegetable of the day? The garlic mashed were also nothing to write home about.

Servers were rushed and rude, guess I can give them the benefit here being The Night, but even the hostess was unbearably rude. I needed to go out to make a cell call and would only be outside under their awning. She said one of us HAD to stay inside (though we had to wait over 2 HOURS for a table) otherwise she would take our name off the list.

They brag that even President Bush (Sr.) had to wait for a table and they never take reservations. Since when does bad service become a selling point? We won't have to worry about waiting 2 hours for a steak there again.

If you truly want a *good* steak, go to Manny's Steak House in Minneapolis. Now THERE's a good steak and impeccable service.
