The first time I visited Red Zone with some friends the restaurant had run out of rubs (this at around 6:30 PM). We tried the smoked turkey legs, which were just OK. Not bad, not great, just OK.
The second time I actually got to try the ribs; too bad they honestly weren't worth the wait. The BBQ is passable but it just isn't that good considering the price, which is expensive ($21 if you get a few ribs, a couple of small side orders, a small cornbread muffin and a soda).
Also, while we were there the manager got into an argument with a customer who had brought in a gift certificate that apparently hadn't expired. He told the customer that although the certificate was still "technically" good, he had decided a few months back "not to accept them any longer." Weird business practice.
And while a "divey" vibe can actually work for a BBQ place, especially if the chow in the place is good, the school-cafeteria atmosphere at Red Zone is 100-percent personality-free.
There's plenty of parking here, though, it's easy to find and it seemed pretty clean; at least the place has that going for it.
I live just a few minutes from Red Zone so I was really hoping to like the place. It would've been great to have a good BBQ joint nearby. No go. I gave it two chances, and I probably won't give it a third.

This is a great little "secret" place....the food is fabulous, the staff very cordial and prices can't be beat. The ice cream machine is a great plus especially when kids are in tow. Great cobbler to go with that ice cream!!!! Large screen tvs make the experience complete. Love this place!!!!

Great smoked BBQ in the middle of Omaha! Doesn't matter if it's for lunch, dinner, or a work meeting in the banquet room, it is alwasys a good time for some great food. Everything is unbelievabley good... from the AMAZING cornbread to the fantastic

Food was horrible. BBQ was spicy and not in a good way. Service less then friendly which I don't understand because we were the only people in the restaurant.Wouldn't recommend.

Absolutely THE best bbq sauce in the midwest. I lived in Georgia for many years and this was my first stop every time I flew home for a visit. Now my husband, a GA native, is as hooked as I am. Says the peach cobbler is better than his momma's!
