Faatimah Muhammad, owner and entrepreneur, has been in the restaurant business and other industries for over 20 years, and knew exactly how she wanted to use the available space on South Main. "I wanted a place where everyone could come and feel welcomed. We offer more than a restaurant but a place that intentionally brings people of different backgrounds together for entertainment and encourages them to make a difference." Safari's, which has two levels, will present live music seven days a week that will include inspirational, Caribbean and Latin influenced beats. The mixed-use facility will also host book signings, comedy jams, corporate events, parties, weddings, informational meetings and poetry readings. Each day has a theme that speaks to the diversity of the restaurant and its patrons.
Another added feature of the restaurant is its commitment to environmental sustainability and its participation in the green movement. The restaurant will offer its patrons the opportunity to become members in the Safari Co-Op Program. This program allows members to purchase food and services in bulk which economically helps to impact global and local communities. This initiative is a part of the owner's concept of having a world restaurant that is diverse in its offerings, mission-driven, educational and rewarding.
