I didn't know quite what to expect from a local restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. If you are a lover of seafood, this place is definitely for you. The prices were affordable, the staff friendly and my food was served hot. After the first night of dining on the freshest seafood I've had in a long time, I decided to return the next night for an encore before heading back to Philadelphia.

I have to say I have been to this place before and loved it, I live in the neighborhood and like taking friends to NON-CHAIN place for a good meal.
However, my wife and I went 17 Sep 09 to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and things have changed...
In the past they had all you could eat boild shrimp on thursday night, as recently as Sunday, they had a sign out saying that. We got there and they were no longer offering that, but did have $7 / lbs shrimp but with no sides or anything. We ordered that since this place has always provided cornbread and ample hushpuppies.
We did get our four hushpuppies but when we asked for more we were told they were now $1.50 a serving for extras, and there was no longer any cornbread (which I really loved).
The service was slow for a NON busy night and it seemed they were pre-occupied by something other than their customers.
I bought a 50-50 from the paper so I have to use those up but after that, I won't be back!
WORST restaurant I have encountered in the Hampton Roads area. The fries were dark brownish yellow as well as the onions. The navy bean soup was even non-edible. I sent back the fries and the same ones returned. It is very unhealthy food because

This restaurant carries a wide assortment of appetizers for a very reasonable price. The staff is friendly and attentive. The menu selections are fresh and authentic. I highly recommend this restaurant for couples, families, and lunch meetings.
Went today for lunch I love seafood and was told this place was great. What a disappointment, I ordered appitizer's the shrimp with jalepeno they give you 5 it was ok. the crab stuffed mushrooms they give you 4 were tasteless.

I have been going to this excellent restaurant for over twelve years and the food just keeps getting better. The appetizer selection there cannot be beat. The staff is attentive and friendly everytime we visit. And my four little children are alway

This restaurant has the worst management ever. I have never been so disgusted with one human being as I was last night when I was trying to enjoy a meal with my parents and sister/brother-in-law. Apparently, if you've been going to the restaurant for 35 years you have the right to let your children scream, run around/under the tables and not tell them how to act in public. Apparently, the staff can't talk to them so the customer has to ask them to leave because we too WERE paying good money to have a dinner there. But, I will never go back to this hell-hole ever again. If you like to have other kids in your space screaming and running then be my guest and go to this restaurant, but if you don't enjoy the above then don't waste your time!!!

My husband and I had a great experience as we celebrated our 23rd Wedding Anniversary at Slightly Up the Creek. We just wanted to try a new place and have now found "OUR place". Tiffany was our server and soooo wonderful. The entire staff made us feel special. I really enjoyed the Snow Crab Legs, the Riverwalk Shrimp and their award winning She Crab Soup. My husband preferred the Admirals platter (you get a little of everything). To top the night off, we shared their Heath Bar Sundae (one sundae with 2 spoons...a little romantic). MMMMMM!!!!! The evening was even more special because of the view at sunset. Just the two of us, a great meal, beautiful sunset around such pleasant people. I would definitely recommend reservations...this is a great local place to dine with good food and reasonable prices on the water at the marina. Even though it is tucked away I wouldn't be surprised if there is a waiting list for a table very soon.
