I’ve been eating at Kansai for about 12 years now and for many years called it the best Sushi restaurant in the state. I believe it has been sold 2-3 times in the past 3-4 years unfortunately losing its luster in the process.
2005’ish… The restaurant doubled in size adding hibachi grills, down goes the sushi quality! A new owner or manger (female) appeared and really took the service down by browbeating the staff to death and treating patrons like dirt… I stopped eating in simply because of her, and then stopped ordering take out just because of her attitude.
A short period around late 06 things changed again, smaller menu and they cleaned out the whole staff which was disappointing as the chiefs they had for years were EXCELLENT! I ate there twice and server bad fish… I couldn’t do it again, it was so disappointing!!!
Early 2007, the latest has been the remodeling of the whole place taking out many of the private booths and trying to go for a more “night clubish” theme… Bad idea! The new owner/manager calls himself Cowboy, nice guy… but can you turn the music down? The food quality has improved but is still a far cry from the glory days of the early 2000’s. I live 20 miles away but still eat there enough for the new staff to again know my face and orders. I still think on the right days it’s the best deal in town and if you’re naive to sushi or lame enough to find hibachi amusing in the same restaurant it will win you over. If you’re there on an off day you probably will not be back.

Sorry but I could not give it a zero. The site will not allow it, but that is what it really is.
Apparently, the old owners of Kansai sold out and left their gem of a resturaunt to some people that know nothing about sushi.
First of the name is confusing it says sushi masa on the door but the menu says Kansai. The food is pricey but tastes lousy, and worst of all you have people from Mexico playing sushi chefs. Come on get real.
The most disturbing part is that they include the gratutity of 20% on the bill whether you are one person or 10. Do they think this is Europe. Save your money and go elsewhere!

This place has really changed. Have been going there for what seems like forever. Our last visit was the least impressive. The menu was much smaller. The sushi was average.

Excellent tepanyaki chefs and carefully presented sushi. They recently changed decor to make the rooms flow better. While my husband is a big hibachi fan, I prefer sashimi and udon and this place satisfies both our tastes. Kansai continues to be a favorite because of its consistency. Tempura House and Sushi Ray's might have better overall decor, but we prefer the service at Kansai. Tempura House "lost" our reservation _three_ times! Sushi Ray's raised its prices and lower the quality of it's steak cuts after the remodel.

A high quality buffet style restaurant. Sushi is put out under sneeze glass in small freshly made quantities; quickly replenished when needed. Much to choose from including sashimi, sushi, and sushi rolls. Also a grill where a preparer cooks Asian style foods to your liking. Like shushi? You'll love this place!

This is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Palm Beach County. Presentation is fabulous. Portions are generous. Sushi is always fresh. Cater to your individual needs. Helpful in selections and daily menus.
