ON 2/21/2010 I VISITED THE TEXAS CATTLE CO. IN LAKELAND, FL. AT FIRST IT SEEMED THAT THINGS WEREN'T GOING TO BE THE KIND OF RESTURANT THAT I WOULD LIKE. THE HOSTESS WAS NOT ORGANIZED AND THE AREA WHERE WE WERE DIRECTED TO WAIT WAS NOT CLEAN. FOOD ON THE TABLE ETC. AFTER BEING SEATED WE WERE MADE TO FEEL VERY COMFORTBLE BY OUR WAITER "JEREMY". HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. HE MADE OUR VISIT VERY PLEASANT. THE FOOD WAS GREAT AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO RETURNING.

My husband and I experienced our first visit to this restaurant on New Year's Eve.
We were very satisfied with the service and the food. Our waitress was friendly and professional.
We began with a cocktail and appetizer (gator tail). We each ordered the surf and turf (22 oz NY strip). I had the bacon-wrapped scallops and my husband chose the Madagascar shrimp. The steaks were cooked to perfection and was far more than we could eat. We will enjoy the leftovers tonight. The sides - salad, and garlic mashed potatoes were very good.
The prices may seem high - but, hey - it's angus beef! Our bill was #79.00 - not bad for New Year's Eve and the quality of the meal.
We will definitely come back again.
The only negative statement I can make is that the waitress did not offer coffee or dessert. We were too full for either, but it should have been offered.

Ok, after years hearing people rave about this place, I decided to take my wife there for her "b-day". I was not at all impressed with this place, especially after all the "raves" I had heard. The food was alright not fantastic like I was expecting. I ordered the 12oz filet mignon, and it had a little fat on it, I have never had a filet mignon with fat on it. I ordered it med rare and came out on the med side. However, in all fairness, I have to admit it was very tender. The mashed potatoes were very good. My wife said her plate was real good. I have to say it's a little pricey for what you get. You can get same steak more or less at Longhorns or Outback for less money... the cheese cake was lousy, it was very watery, not creamy like it should be. Our waiter was very good though. Overall, I have to say I was very disappointed...nothing to write home about.

First let me say that I have had dinner at this restaurant previously, a bit over priced but a great steak!

So I wanted a not so formal place to celebrate my anniversary. Let's just say that it took them 1 hour from the time ordered to bring me a freaking steak! One idiot waiter told me that it was the special way they cooked it! Retard it's beef, medium at that!!!

So the manager appears and I shared what it was unacceptable...To which she asked what we wanted to do???..... I don't want a free pass...I will pay for the meal and requested the steak boxed...

They ended up waiving the entire bill....our waiter was super nice and apalogetic...left her a tip....here is my tip to you....this place is always busy...make sure you go early....If you get there around 8 you wont get your steak after 9pm for sure!

Would rather pay for my bill anytime and enjoy a nice evening...than sit here and type this pathetic story!

I travel a lot, both inside and outside the USA. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. Made reservations for 5 pm as suggested and had to wait until after 5 for the staff to finish their cigarettes on the front porch before opening the door. Second, the music was so loud you could not hear your server let alone your party sitting right beside you. We asked that the music be turned down to no avail. Next, I ordered a rib eye steak and was only offered two choices of salad dressing. When I asked the server why only two vinegar based dressings, I was told that the owner chooses not to acknowledge someone would want anything else. So, I skipped the salad not to become ill. Steak was good, baked potato only offered sour cream and butter. For the prices there, it was more of a family of 'this is how I eat salad, baked potato' take it or leave it. Two people $101.00. I can only hope Lakeland gets some competition, the residents need more. Oh, the free birthday sparked my interests. But why only with a Florida Drivers License. Last I checked a birthday was on date, not where you drive!!

Service was great.
Food was good. Had the filet, and it tasted great but had too much fat in it.
They need to dust the knick knacks.

We went there for my birthday for the free birthday cowgirl steak. This visit was on 2/4/08 the day after the super bowl. None of the employees were moving to fast after the big super bowl the day before. We got there there at 5pm and did not get our dinner until 40 minutes later. The salad was good, cold and fresh. My cowgirl steak was cooked over orange hard wood and smelled really good but the cut was from choice meat that would make really nice rubber tires. There was at least 6 ozs of fat on it and grissle. So now I see what you get for free. The sirlion steak my husband had was nice, thick and full of flavor. The server was OK but kept making excuses for the kitchen taking so long for the steaks. A lot of patrons were upset including us. Maybe it would be better just to close a resturant the day after the sper bowl instead of making the patrons suffer from bad food and service. Also it cost $7.95 for a piece of carrot cake or other desserts....outragous prices for Lakeland.

The best steaks in Lakeland are waiting for you at Texas Cattle Company. Located centrally in downtown on beautiful Lake Mirror, the aroma of delicious steaks grilling on mesquite fills the parking lot. The "bone-in-filet" is a masterpiece. To make your evening extra special, request "Jen" as your waitress. After a long week at the office, there is nothing better than saddling up to the table and cutting into a tender, delicious TCC steak. The house salad is tasty and the deserts are over-the-top. My mother-in-law rarely eats red meat and she thought the 12 oz filet was incredible. Ditto for my daughter who likes chicken and fish. She took a bite of my son's filet and said "I'd like one." Our family loves the food and the old west atmosphere.

My guest and I were in your restaurant on 11/07/2007 to celebrate our birthdays. I have a Florida State ID which is a legal document, and was told that I had to have a drivers's license. My party was there around 2100, and your waitress was very unprofessional and just down right nasty! I have been here many times in the past celebrating different ones birthdays, and have never been treated the way I was treated on yesterday evening. Because it was my birthday, I anticipated the bill being a certain amount; instead, ended up with a bill of $52.33 in which she added an extra tea, the final bill being $51.25
