There is a huge hand-painted mural on one wall depicting an Aztec scene. You can only wonder if that woman is going to be sacrificed, though. Tlaloc is supposed to be the name of an Aztec god, so the place has an Aztec vibe to it. You can look out the window and see the El Toro Mountain, which looks just like the mountain in the mural.
The decor is great. I really like the old pine bar near the registration desk. There are flowers everywhere. The colors are just wonderful. Even the bathroom (only one) is decked out with crown molding. Very cool. I felt like I was on vacation.
The food was delicious and very authentic. My friends are big Mexican food eaters and they thought it was excellent. I had a big burrito on my first visit. I thought it was similar to Chipotle's, which I think is good. The torta I had on my second visit was just great. It had just the right combo of meats and veggies in a great crispy bread. Everything else we have tried since has been superbly done.
Service was friendly and efficient. Plenty of parking and easy to get to in the Morgan Hill Center not too far from Monterey Road before you get to city hall and the library.
This is the best Mexican food in Morgan Hill. It's the perfect little restaurant. Word hasn't got out yet, so it's still very un-crowded, but not for long...
