This is a restaurant with a fabulous view. During the fall, the view must be even more spectacular. However, the restaurant's reputation is coasting on the view & has allowed the service, appearance & food to decline. The restaurant had 2 largish events happening & the public area was basically empty. With that, our server (friendly) should have been at our table immediately but wasn't. We all ordered the same thing. Soup to start & Caesar Salad. Our server apologized that our soup was delivered in bowls & not cups. Due to the events - they had run out of cups. The soup was lukewarm. The romaine lettuce was afloat in caesar dressing with unpeeled cucumbers & tomatoes along with croutons, & the 'featured' crab - Green salad with Crab. Bread had to be requested which arrived in a decrepit basket which should never have been seen on any table. My companions plates were cleared while I was still eating. When I finished, the server took our dessert order & left my salad plate on the table. 2 minutes later, dessert arrived. Our server still didn't remove my plates. I had to. There is no excuse for poor service with 4 or 5 tables occupied. There shouldn't be an apology for a lack of serving pieces. Anything appearing on the table shouldn't be falling apart. Never serve anything when the previous course hasn't been completely cleared. I'll go back for the fall colors but will have low expectations for the food & service.
