Originally from Longview, I now reside in Austin. I came in town to have dinner with some friends and we chose Tyler St. because we wanted a nice dinner with a good bottle of wine. We show up and the service is poor. The menu is small. I was hoping for a filet, but the menu only included a ribeye and a new york strip. The $14 tenderloin tamale appetizer was small and dry. The pear and walnut salad was served to us without walnuts. The waitress seemed to be put out when we asked for anything. The rib-eye was mediocre. I've had much better steaks at Road House. The wine list did not include any wine by the glass. When I asked the waitress she rambled off two wineries, but did not include which types of wine. Once again she seemed put out to answer any of our questions. The choice of wine by the glass were minimimal and the choices did not include quality. We ordered two different desserts, the chocolate molten cake and the apple tart. Both were cold. The cake was dry. The coffee was burned. Overall, the experience was not what we had hoped for. Someone mentioned the owner was out of town....maybe things would have been better had he not been. The quality and service did not match the amount of our check. I will not be back.
