San Pedro Restaurant Guide

In 1954, Leah Blakeman and her two daughters opened the Crest Cafe, located on the corner of 22nd and Mesa in San Pedro. The Crest was known for serving ice-cold beer and old fashioned burgers. In 1976, the Utovac family took over the operation, added the Utro's name and vowed to carry on the family style business. Utro's quickly became a local hotspot for fisherman, longshoremen, law enforcement, and military personnel.

In July 1989, progress came into play, the property was sold and the building fell to the wrecking ball. It was a sad day for both the Utovac family and the city of San Pedro. Though, in October 1995, Utro's opened the doors and once again, welcoming its patrons and loyal customers to the Fisherman's Wharf location. The vintage Utro's paraphernalia was resurrected and continues to be an integral part of the restaurant's decor.
