The World Buffet Chinese Restaurant, located at 1645 Town East Blvd, in Mesquite, Texas, right next to Souper Salad, is one of our favorite restaurants. When you first walk in the door, you are greeted by a small, attractive fountain inhabited by koi. The decor is attractive. There is a picture of the great wall of China, and a large bas relief over the cash register. There is a large flat screen TV on the wall in the main dining area. It was playing basketball when we arrived, but it wasn't obtrusive. The sound was loud enough that you could have followed the game if you'd wanted to, but not so loud as to be a disturbance to other diners.
World Buffet Super Chinese Buffet in Mesquite is a positively huge buffet with such an amazing variety of selections that you can't get to all of it in only one visit.
On our most recent visit we really dug in. I started with egg drop soup and piled up a plate of veggies, including spinach and cheese, fried potatoes, corn on the cob, butter mushrooms with onions, green beans and corn, peas and carrots. I allowed my sons to break their vegetarianism with fish, as I occasionally do. They had crab legs, mussels, vegetarian and fish sushi, imitation crab, egg rolls and doughnuts.
This was only a small fraction of what was available. World Buffet has the typical Chinese selections, along with a Mongolian grill, which comes with the buffet. The Mongolian grill features a variety of meats and fish, along with vegetables and several different sauces, including peanut sauce.
I went back for seconds, selecting some of the sushi, some cole slaw, and hard boiled egg. I also picked up a load of pickled ginger, which was available in quantity. My husband had a little hot and sour soup with tofu, and we moved on to dessert.
