This review is concerning Greg's Pizza in Johnson city TN. The store is under new ownership and the quality and service is totally gone. The new owner has cut back on the toppings both on the pizzas and sandwiches and raised the prices. Nothing is the same. Sad to say he wants to get rich quick by cutting back and not sticking to the orginal Greg's greatness. SO SAD.

LOVE the pizza! been eating Greg's in Johnson City, TN since the early 70's and seriously, nothing compares to it.
but the service is definitely LACKING! the guys act like they don't want to be there. they huff around, are short when you ask them anything, look at you in disgust and act like it's killing them to take the order, etc. seriously bad service and the time will come when that ruins the business for them.
TONY, if you're still reading these reviews, you should do something about the Johnson City location's service. their attitude towards the customer here over the last few years has declined tremendously and is going to severely hurt the business, and that would be a shame!

Gregs Volcano Pizza is my favorite pizza place! My favoritw one is the Easy Shopping Store! The breadsticks are to die for!
I live in Kansas now, but as a child i grew up in Elkhart, Indiana and my mom would always get us Volcano pizza. It was the Best ever. We moved here in 1972 and i have never forgotten that awesome taste. Recently my cousin came to visit and she brought me a pizza ( god bless her ), it was soooooo god. Thank you Volcano for still being in business and making the same great pizza.

I LOVE Volcano's pizza. I grew up with it and made sure I found a man that loves the Greg's Special as much as I do! :) When I was little we would always get a Greg's Special, a just Cheese, a couple Meatball and Cheese and Hot Ham and Cheese subs, then split it all up! THE BEST Meatball and Cheese sub around. I have yet to find another. Thanks Volcano! Keep up the Deliciousness! :)

Like so many others giving reviews, the first thing I do when I visit Elkhart is call in a Volcano Pizza order. Thank you to the Canpanello family for keeping the product original and never cutting corners. We are three generations of Volcano pizza lovers. We always take two large sausage pizzas with us when we leave. Volcano is the best on Earth.

I have lived in Elkhart all my life, everyone in my family love Volcano Pizza its been around all my life that I can remember,I move to Austin Texas for 2 years me and my friend bought pizza everywhere there trying to get a pizza that tasted like volcano, no luck at all, then I moved back to Elkhart, then had to have 2 every week, sure missed them living in Texas.now I can get one every time I want one.
My Father and Mother were the founders of Greg's Volcano Pizza In Elkhart, IN and in Tenn. I am most proud of my brother and sister in-law and how they have kept the product my father invested his life in the same for all of the most respected loyal customers in the past and now the future customers. Not many 2nd generation businesses make it. That's a testament to how it was turned over to this generation. I hope it goes to 3rd and 4th generations for the sake of people who look forward to a Greg's Volcano Pizza and not just a profit when the 2nd decides to sell it.

i've only eaten at the greg's volcano pizzas in tennessee, but they are by far the best pizza i have ever had. we are in knoxville, but make it up to johnson city every few months and bring some home that are unbaked to keep in the freezer. actually going up tomorrow to do just this (and visit with family). was hoping the other reviewer from knoxville would see this in case they didn't know that volcano pizzas are available just a couple of hours (less really) away. bake them on a pizza stone in a 450 degree oven and they are perfect. thanks for making such great pizza! nothing else compares.

I grew up in the Dunlap area of Elkhart. I never knew the existence of Volcanoe's (then only located at Easy Shopping Plaza) until I married my husband who grew up eating it. My mother was a Pizza Hut fan until...I brought her a Volcanoe's Pizza. After that, whenever we visited, we had to bring her a pizza from Volcanoe's. We now live in Phoenix, Arizona near my husband's brother. This weekend, my brother-in-law and I are going to have a bake off and try to figure out that great taste. I feel like cheating and having a Greg's Pizza Fed-Ex'd to me! At least we would experience that great taste! By the way, the reviewer from Detroit just doesn't know great pizza. Thanks Greg for your wonderful contribution to Elkhart, Indiana. Have you ever considered moving to Phoenix and opening one here?!!!!!!!

I grew up in Elkhart and my grandparents owned a shoe store a couple doors down from Volcanos. I remember what a treat it was to hang out with grandma and get a sausage sandwich for lunch. I grew up on Volcano ham, mushroom and onion pizza and it is still the all time best pizza I have ever had. A friend of mine is traveling through Elkhart today and is picking one up for me on his way down to Atlanta...I am so excited about my dinner tonight!
I grew up on Clark st. right between the YMCA & Greg's Volcano Pizza. When i was a kid for every birthday for as long as i can remember,my mom would let us pick the dinner for the night and every year i wanted Volcano's Pizza.I remember drining by watching the people in the window toss the dough, wondering"How do they do that?"Even as i got older i would stop in almost everyday after work and get one of their famous pizza breads! Hands down the best Pizza i've ever eaten! As i write this, there is a large "Greg's Special" on the way to my house!Don't ever change!!!

Two products from Elkhart Indiana changed my life for the better; my wife and Volcano pizza {not necessarily in that order). I just finished a dinner of Volcano pizza that my wife brought back to me after visiting her Family in Elkhart. Even after being frozen and travelling 800 miles, it is still, hands down, the BEST pizza in the world. I'm in a state of euphoric "Volcanic" bliss as I broadcast this message. I'm already planning my wife's next visit to Elkhart. Love you Volcanos! (You too wife!)

What a disappointment. After reading glowing reviews on this site I decided to give this location a try.
I called in a carryout order for a 12 inch volcano and some breadsticks. I picked it up just as they were boxing it. So It was very hot.
I drove it back to my hotel about 8 minutes away..figure 5 more to get to my room and start chowing.
Is it normal for the breadsticks to be Cold? They sat atop a flaming hot box o pizza..but nope cold as cold could be.???
The Pizza itself was un pickupable (it basically fell apart..the dough collapsed..breaking into peices about midway into the slice. I had to eat it with a knife and fork...(that's not supposed to happen) I can understand all the toppings sloughing off the dough like skin off a 4 day old corpse but the dough itself should not fail when you pick up the pizza.
Taste wise it was OK , certainly not the best I've had and I doubt the best in the world by anyone's account.. I'm sure it really falls into the catagory of what Pizza you've grown up with...or maybe being an acquired taste.
But I was dissapointed...and Oh' don't ask for bleu cheese for the breadsticks , cuz they only offer marinara...but the cooler is loaded with bleu for the salads. (go figure)
If it had sauce I couldn't find it. Lot's o' cheese...and like 7 toppings..but for 20bucks both products should have been better .
I grew up in Elkhart, and now live with my wife in Atlanta, GA. Beyond my family, the one thing I miss the most about home are Volcano breadsticks and sauce. Absolutely the best in the world. I'm home about twice a year, and Volcano's is always the first place I stop!

Volcano's is so good, I've eaten at not only all 3 in Elkhart, but I've eaten at the "branches" in Tenessee (Elisabethtown and Bristol, I believe). The only downside is it may be too greasy for some people. Try the breadsticks with a side of bleu cheese....mmmm.

I have been enjoying Volcano Pizza since they open 50 years ago and it is as good now as it was then. I have eaten pizza all over the midwest and nothing tops theirs. The cheese is REAL. As far as "dining in" there are just a couple of small tables but the food, the breadsticks, the pizza are sublime.

I have been in the military for over 17 years now and I have traveled all over the world and eaten some truly wonderful food. Every time I can get a chance to come home and visit my family the one thing I remember to say to them after "I love you" is "have that volcano's pizza waiting for me".

Best Pizza and Sandwich. I try to get their food every time I return to Elkhart. I get their meatball sandwich as a 'kit' so that I can make it at home at a later date. The ham and cheese sandwich is great too. I always get sausage and mushroom...MMMMM Great !!

Greg's Volcano Pizza makes the best pizza in the world. I've eaten the "best" pizza in nearly every state and in Italy, England, Germany, Spain, and Turkey. Nothing compares to Greg's. I grew up on Volcano pizza and I make sure I get a large Greg's Special everytime I'm in town. I'd love to open a Volcano pizza franchise here in Phoenix.

I have grown up in Elkhart, and cannot remember a time where we haven't eaten at Volcano's. The hot ham and cheese sandwich's are the best. But if you are lucky enough to go on your lunch, you should definitly try the breadsticks, no where else can compete with them.

I grew up in Elkhart also, we ate at Volcano's maybe about once a month, because they were so far from our house. After leaving and going to college, coming home to some "homemade" pizza was all I was looking for. So when I started bring my son-to-be husband home with me,that's all he wanted to eat also. We buy them frozen now and take them back home with us in Texas.
