Our experience at Alamo Cafe was less than desirable. Our party of 8 was seated at two different tables instead of just one. Our waiter (the one who served our table) was always rushed. The food was so so. The worst of it was that our table was dirty, menus were covered in salsa, and a moldy air conditioner was dripping moldy water into my food. My husband actually got sick from the food. There are definitely better places to eat in San Antonio.

a diner from San Antonio,
We love the chicken fried steak and it's the best tortilla soup ever....however some of the other dishes are not as consistent. As in most places, some dishes are better than others.
My husband and I love this restaurant. The food is always great and the service is always quick. The staff is very friendly. The cool thing about this place is that they even have a drive thru which we've used on occasion when we're going on a road t

We are new San Antonians and very happy that our first lunch was at El Alamo Cafe... What a great place! It's our number one eating place in San Antonio..

The ambience is excellent. The ceilings are painted and lit to look like the sky. The inside rooms look like old missions...so it is a fun place to go. However, the food is worse than a tv dinner. The beans and rice are terrible. The taco meat is greasy and tastes weird. Go there for chips & salsa and a beer. You'll be disappointed in the food.
