Used to work at the old Hamady's across the street some twenty five years ago and ate there often. Happened by the area today and stopped in to see if it was as good as I remember. The food is still good but the restaurant, like the area around it is in disrepair and run down. Flint in general is the same way, run down boarded up houses and buildings, general inner city blight.
Sad to see when you remember it being nice.

I was raised on
flints East Side---before it's disintergration began. My dad and I ate there the very 1st day it opened---I was not yet 7. Now I am 64, living in Texas and so missing my at least monthly "fix' from back home . I must say that Mr. Z on Court street is much cleaner than any of the Angelo's. And he is an original owner/worker of the REAL place so the coneys, fries etc are wonderful Miss you, Michigan.

I grew up in Flint and went to Grandma's as often as I could to eat. Now, when I go back home to visit I make it a point to go to Grandma's at least once, but usually at least a couple of times while I'm in town. Chicken fried steak is the best, and ...
