Kennesaw Restaurant Guide

Chic has been in the restaurant business for many years. He was an Executive Chef for several upscale restaurants in the late 80's and early 90's. After years of managing a variety of concepts from large sports bars to fine dining restaurants, the idea of operating a small little barbecue restaurant seemed very appealing. While driving around town one day Chic spotted this little "Shanty" for rent in Kennesaw. In discussing the location and idea of opening a barbecue restaurant with Ronnie, Chic was enlightened about how Kennesaw "stole" the General from Ringgold, and they still want their train back! Realizing this must be a touchy subject for the Ringgold resident, the conversation returned to the restaurant topic, to which Ronnie replied "Let's Do It".

You can expect to meet the entire Dillard clan at the Smokehouse. Sissy, Chic's wife, has been in the business for more years than she will admit. Shannon, Chic & Sissy's daughter, has worked in every aspect of the business from server, bartender, line cook and General Manager. On a rare occasion son Travis may make an appearance, but we expect his involvement to be limited to the consumption department. Although Ronnie won't be involved operationally, he is here in spirit and his handiwork and visionary design is evident throughout the Shanty.
