Always a great experience with the food here and service. Ignore the negative reviews; this pplace is consistently rated as one of the best sushi restaurants in Columbia for a reason.
My only complaint is their odd hours with hardly ever being open during lunch time. TO THE OWNER OF CAMON, PLEASE START OPENING UP ON SATURDAYS FOR LUNCH.

My husband and I have a date night once a week and this is the place where we enjoy the food, environment, and service. Excellent choice for any day of the week!

I have eaten Sushi all over SC and Inakaya's rates as the best by far. Ryo and Louis are a

beer with you as you dine. Key items: Look for the daily specials on the board behind them (often they have i

I met a party at Camon and had a negative experience. The service was very poor, especially for the price of the establishment. The waiter pretty much took the order and brought the food. I had to get up to get my own water and I felt that the lighting was not very good in the restaurant. The dimness of the lights hurt my eyes. I would never go back to this restaurant b/c service is extremely important to me. It was my first visit, and I did not try their sushi, but had another main dish. I didn't enjoy my food that much, but even if I did....superior service in a restaurant that is charging high prices is a must in my book. THere was only one other party there besides mine. THey were not busy. THey also obrought our food out at different times. THey should have coordinated it better so that everyone's would come out at the same time.

The food was great, but the service was very poor. Even though the quality of the sushi was very good, I would not go back unless they offered delivery (which they don't). The menu was also considerably over-priced.

The Kobayashi family were extremely courteous and friendly to my husband and I as we visited my daughter who was in school in Columbia, SC. The food was extremely good and I would recommend this to anyone without any hesitation! (Shiggy - we think of you often). Susan Chilton

Excellent food, bad service. As a previous rater, we were told by our waiter that we had ordered too much sushi. Little did he know that my husband is a competitive athlete who eats A LOT. We are also veteran sushi eaters. However, we deferred to the waiter's suggestion ... only to end up ordering more sushi after eating everything. A previous time, we were rudely over-looked when we walked into the restaurant, not approached by any staff until 10 minutes had gone by and all had averted our attempts to catch their attention. If you can stomach the service, the food is worth the trip. Better yet, order out.

Great food here -- my wife (who is native Japanese) and I dined here several times for everything from sushi to sukiyaki and were always pleased with our meals. Unfortunately, we'll never go back there after some extremely rude treatment by a waitress and a younger sushi chef. After placing our order, I noticed the chef giving us a dirty look. A few minutes later, the waitress came back and asked us "Have you ever been here before? You ordered way too much food. You have to choose over again." The amount of sushi we ordered was the same we always got there in the past with no troubles -- in fact, it was perfect for two people. Insulted, we got up from our table and left. The food is excellent at Camon -- they just need to work on customer service, which usually isn't an issue with Japanese-owned establishments.

Mr. Kobayashi is the best. Camon is the best Japanese restaurant in Columbia if you're a sushi/sashimi fan. Highly recommended.

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Columbia. Mr. Kobayashi is a master doing sushi which is the best I've ever had. The staff are friendly and polite. That's why I recommend you all to visit Camon Japanese restaurant.
