If you want a romantic and relaxing night out with your date then Circa 1886 could be your place. The outdoor seating is set in a beautiful and serene surrounding. You are nestled in the garden of the Wentworth Mansion which in itself is an icon of downtown Charleston. Everything was superb. From the crab cakes to the chocolate Soufflé, presentation and quality was outstanding. The service was also friendly yet cordial but not stuffy. We had 3 appetizers the Spicy Grilled Shrimp, Cauliflower Cornmeal Hotcakes and Crab Cake Soufflé. It is hard to pick a winner as all 3 was very good. For our entrées we ordered the Pan Seared Scallops dinner special, Beef Tenderloin Au Poivre and Garlic Butter Poached Halibut. The one I liked best was the tenderloin. It came with a side of wild mushrooms that was done right. Meaty and full of flavor. The tenderloin sat on a bed of romaine hearts and was grilled to perfection. We ended the evening with the Chocolate Truffle Soufflé. It was served with chocolate swirl ice cream sprinkled with malt on the top. Also a Godiva Chocolate Liquor Anglaise was served on the side for you to pour in and over your soufflé. Overall it was a memorable evening and a delicious meal to go along with it.
