I am third generation patron of this establishment. It is a best kept secret food wise and service. Look, it has been here since the fifties and hasnt changed much. It is 'romantically' dark and a very neat place for a couple to call their own. My parents dated here. My wife proposed to me here 16 years ago and now we bring the kids here. Its attraction is old school bistro. The food is savory and unique in flavor. If youre use to taco truck food...dont go here, seriously. This is mid-mexico family sit down style not Tijuana street food. Special gravys, black bean refritos and a coleslaw you will not find else where. For those of you who are in the know, there are two famous paintings in this resturant by Fabian Perez, check it out or ask. The wait staff are casual and friendly. I will say two things in fairness; (1)keep the hours as you post them. Nothing upsets people more then making plans to eat at your place and youre not there when youre sign says youre suppose to be there. (2)The owner needs to stop speaking negatively to his customers about his own place. I know times are tough but you really have a special thing here. Do your very best and stay positive. If you dont and the chef leaves, youre done. The prices are reasonable. All in all, I recommend El Faro for a tasty, romantic evening!
My husband and I are always up for Mexican food, and so we decided to try El Faro after reading some positive online reviews. I just had to add my two cents after having enjoyed dinner there myself. Wow, what great value and delicious food. Everything we had was great and my husband even commented that every single thing on our plates tasted freshly made, like not one thing out of a can! The rice has a delicious light-gravy poured over the top which gives it rich flavor. The beans are hearty and tasty. The enchiladas and tacos were fabulous. Three cheers for ALL WHITE MEAT CHICKEN!!
We'll definitely recommend this place and visit again ourselves. We're about 40 miles away, but it's well worth it.

I'm 53 years old and have been going to this restaurant since I was 5 years old. The food is the best of any Mexican Restaurant anywhere! The owner and staff are so friendly and caring. This restaurant can't be beat!

This is the best Mexican Restaurant in this area, and we've tried them all. It is indeed a hidden gem that few people seem to know about. The decor is dated, but the food is spectacular. Enter in the back, through the kitchen, and you will receive a friendly greeting from the owner/cook.

I have been going to this restaurant since 1977, it is the best Mexican food anywhere. The menu is varied and goes well beyond what we typically think of as Mexican food. This is not a Taqueria menu it is a menu you would expect in a high quality restaurant in Mexico.
