Walking into Estavan's Mexican Restaurant my mom and I were consumed by a Mexican theme that comes from the bright colorful walls to the beautiful sombreros hanging all over the walls."Just two today, ladies?" from the man walking up to us the minute we walk in the door, he walks us to a group of empty tables and since there were no other customers on this Saturday afternoon, let us decide where we wanted to sit. "Your waitress will be right with you," he smiled as he walked towards the kitchen. While waiting to order we look over the huge variety of things on the menu, from beef burritos and also some sopapillas for desserts. "There is so much to choose from! What are you going to get?" I ask still looking over the menu of many Mexican dishes. I hear back "I can't decide"
The minute I see the picture on the menu I say, "I'm getting the taco salad!" because it has the look that I could not resist and made my mouth start to water instantly. Piled with guacamole, tomatoes, and a delicious shell to hold it all.
When looking over the menu we decided to order a stuffed sopapilla with a side of rice and beans for my mom and then my mouth watering taco salad. We waited for our order for only about five to ten minutes; we started to look around to get a feel for the restaurant. While looking we found that the table was covered in crumbs from the last customer that sat at our table, around the table we saw even more crumbs which made me want something to clean the floor and table with. Our waitress although not good at cleaning up, still was beyond friendly and made us feel very comfortable in the restaurant and made the experience even better than I could imagine.
After the short wait the friendly waitress returned, "The taco salad for you, and stuffed sopa for you, hope you enjoy." Not even before she was behind the wall we were digging in to our cheesy and beefy meals. The mix of the guacamole, tomatoes and of course the crunchy flour tortilla shell that made the best chips for the salad.
Looking at my mom's cheesy and chili covered sopapilla, "Can I try some? You can try mine!" Tasting the spicy flavored sopapilla with the best Spanish rice that I have ever tasted and me wish that I had ordered that dish instead, "I can't finish my entire salad," in anguish I pushed the plate still with half the taco salad still sitting on it, but while continuing to talk to my mom, snacked on the last of the food and by the time the waitress came to take our plates and get our dessert orders, I had the salad finished.
I barely had the room for another bite, but still ordered "Fried ice cream, just one to share,” and still made room for my mouth watering half of the fried ice cream covered in honey and light cinnamon. "I love that ice cream I have never tasted anything that delicious, ever."
When finished eating my new found favorite ice cream, my bladder called and when in public places I never wish to use the restrooms because I have seen the worst and dirtiest restrooms in the world. When entering the restroom expecting the worst walked in to see a clean floor and the smell of flowers and "Wow, this is the cleanest restroom that I have ever seen." Leaving the restroom to knowing that this was a great choice for lunch, especially on a Saturday afternoon and knowing the service was wonderful and although there were crumbs the food was number one in my book.
