My husband has been going to Farmers Catfish House for over 15 years. I have been going to the restaurant 9 years ago. This family owned restaurant is a little off the beaten path, but their location is one of their many great qualities. It's simple, very clean and the family owners are always there because their doing the cooking. Their restaurant is moderately priced. Absolutely worth the money for fresh cooked catfish. They also serve beef. The family is in the dairy business.

My husband remembered going to the Farmers Catfish House about 20 years ago and couldn't remember why he stopped going. I found out the name of the place and then the location and off we went with our family for a belated Fathers Day Feast. Three of us had the combo plate with catfish, shrimp and frog legs or oysters or calamari. Our son-in-law had the special which was a huge ribeye steak with shrimp. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. We went on one of the incredibly hot days in Modesto parched from attending the SJ County fair...our drinks never went empty. I'm an iced tea lover and they did a great job on it too...however, it wasn't sweetened ice tea like I would have expected. We've found this great little restaurant again and plan to return at least once a month. I'm not a big okra fan but we tried the appetizer of fried okra and it was great! Hope you try this local place...great service too! We plan on saving room for desert the next time....
This restaurant is one of Modesto's oldest restaurants. It once was the place to go in town and was very busy. We watched the Fishermans business go way down in a matter of months, just a few years ago. The regular cook of many years quit and the ow

Hard to find and only open on Thursday-Saturday but worth it if you like Southern style fried catfish. Much like a New Orleans mom & pop seafood restaurant.
