Staff was great, food was ok, the smell was terrible. Not sure what was going on, but the smell was hard to take.. like a porta-pot.

For a restaurant the lacks curb appeal and the pizazz of others in the immediate area you would think that Fins would go the extra mile to get the small details right .... like cleanliness. At dinner this evening 11/13/09 we had the pleasure of an unwanted dinner guest. A large brown cockroach just crawled out from behind the booth we were seated in and proceeded to checked us out. That's really bad. But what's worse is that the waiter, after we mentioned that we were eating with pests, took a napkin and wiped the insect away and asked if we wanted to move to another booth (I'm assuming that there were no cockroaches 12 feet away) and continue our meal. We of course said no and quietly asked for the check. We received the check, no mention of the issue, no apology, and worse, nothing done to possibly keep us as a customer.

Well, as a 25 year Crofton resident, I can say with all certainty, I will never eat in that establishment again.

In my opinion, their food and service is hit or miss--more miss! Our last (we'll never go there again) visit was for their 2008 Mother's Day Brunch. The food was laughable and unforgettable. You were lucky to find 2 small pieces of crab meat on their Crab Benedict. It was also cold. Sushi, beef skewers and all desserts looked like they came from Sam's Club. In fact, the owner confirmed this for the desserts but still contends their other items were made from scratch from the highest ingredients. Oh, and did I mention that almost all of our group experienced intestinal distress after dining there. Some barely made it home. When I later voiced my concern to the owner he got defensive and gave me an insincere and condescending reply but would admit to problem with their service and their service will probably be the same the next time they have a brunch. Their regular dinners are mediocre at best but still better than their brunch. They are an overpriced, mediocre, shopping center restaurant with little or no ambience and you should not have high hopes if you consider dining there.

I just went last evening for my anniversary and I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. I understand that it may have had its issues a couple years ago after the new management took over but I saw no evidence of those issues last night. As for the location, who cares? Some of the best food around is in hole in the wall places. I'm more concerned with the food which was beautifully presented and quite delicious.

Food's a bit pricey, and the ambiance is a little rote, but the food was excellent both times I've been there -- not just my dish but everyone's at the table. The presentation on the plate is beautiful. The service is friendly, but since the family does most of its own serving, it can be a bit slow when they're spread thin.

I went to Fins last night to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant setting itself is plain, as well as its location in a shopping mall. The ladies' bathroom does have an unpleasant odor, which I believe is a disinfectant, but except for a slightly full trash can of paper towels, it was clean. The presentation of the food is beautiful, including decorations of various culee designs on the contemporary shaped platters, and the food was placed artfully on the plates. The flavors were excellent and I was really pleased. I had called about the smokiness of the restaurant, as reflected in the reviews of others, and was told that they had redone their ventilation system so that all smoke from the bar exited through the kitchen. No smokey smell was detectable upon entering the restaurant or at all during our dining experience. The price was high, $206 plus a 20% well-deserved tip, for 4 appetizers, 2 salads, 4 main dishes, 3 desserts, but no alcohol. The wait staff was pleasant and thoughtful. A unique, somewhat corny feature, is a game of trivial pursuit, led by Eric, over a microphone, from the bar. The questions were hard, and it created a fun activity to do while witing for our order. I would go again, and am hoping they will do a luau.

I took my wife for our 1st anniversary dinner to commemorate our honeymoon in Hawaii. Food was excellent!

The only negative was the bar was a bit smokey for two people.

Don't go there. We charged our meal with a debt card and now my bank tells me that my card has been charged twice for two different dollar amounts. Now I have to go settle with them as to why one of their employee's charged my card twice. Unless you have cash, don't do it.

The food was okay, the service in the dining room was also just okay, only two servers on a fairly busy Friday night, they definitely seemed overwhelmed. Food is rather pricey and the overall appearance of the restaurant is run down and rather dirty. The most disgusting part of the restaurant however is the bathroom, what in the world is that smell, it seems as if something may have died in there and it was filthy. I can only imagine what the kitchen must look like. I for one will not return.

The food and service is nice but the entire restaurant stink of cigarettes smoke. The smoking section is right next to the dining area and the ventalation is not even close to be enough. My cloth smell of cigarettes smoke even days later. I will not be going back unless they ban smoking in this restuarant.

I don't know what they are thinking, a $32 fillet in a shoppin center with a K-Mart and a Jerry's subs is just crazy. The sushi is lack-luster, and the "hawaiian fusion" has all but left the building. I know they have new owners but they should have tried to keep the staff intact, mainly sushi and real pacific rim items. I would love to see proof that they are using real maui onions and fish from hawaii... by the way, what is organic salmon? If you want real hawaiian/ pacific rim food in an awesome place try Roys in Baltimore. Better prices and quality with great service.

Our pesco-vegetarian children 8 & 11 loved Fins' cuisine, and we are delighted to see that they have a young person's menu now. Nice ambience for a mall setting, and the service was fine.

This is a very cool place to be in crofton. The bar is fun and the atmosphere is great. I've only tried the Sushi and the Sirloin... both were wonderful. I hear they are thinking about putting in a sushi bar. The restaurant can get a little noisy if the bar is full but I like the feel, great food in a fun atmosphere.

The food here is exquisite. You can't really go wrong with whatever you choose. Still, I would stick with seafood. The crab cakes or grilled shrimp are two of my favorites. The setting could be a little nicer and a bar on one side sometimes gets loud but the food is certianly worth it
